It's the song that our shuffle plays that takes us back to one of the best or worst summers we've ever had. It's the song that the radio DJ plays on Throwback Thursday that has you turning up the volume in your car in the middle of rush hour. It's the song that gets everyone out on the dance floor and dancing until their legs give out.

No matter what song it is, it is the song that defined your summer in the last seven or perhaps the last three years. Whether it takes you back to the naiveté of high school or the times of lesser responsibility, that song stays near and dear to you. Inspired by Billboard's Summer Top 10 Chart since 1956, here is a homage to all of our favorites.

1. California Gurls - Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg (2010)

Whether you're a California native or not, you secretly felt like one deep down on the inside. This song is a throwback to getting prepped and ready to hit the beach. It's the song that you blasted on your radio while blasting the AC in 90 degree weather. Or maybe you hated it, but it got stuck in your head. You can't help but begrudgingly sing it after all.

2. The Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO featuring GoonRock & Lauren Bennett (2011)

The moment you heard "Everyday I'm shufflin'", you were suddenly transported to the summer of 2011. However, did you know that this song was on the charts for a full year? That's right, this song might have dominated in the summer of 2011, but it came back in the following year and dominated once more. Needless to say, you couldn't help but shuffle along to this infectious beat.

3. The Edge Of Glory - Lady Gaga (2011)

This powerful pop-ballad not only gave you all the feels, but you couldn't help but belt this song in the shower, in the car, at the pool or beach; it was contagious. Maybe this song gives you a flashback about a sentimental summer fling or it reminds you of graduating. Either way, the moment you take a glimpse of the title, the melody will follow.

4. Young, Wild, & Free - Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg featuring Bruno Mars (2012)

To anyone who graduated in 2012, like me, knows that this song has the power to transport you to the exact moment you first heard the song. Sure, it's a reckless party song that had our parents staring at us warily whenever we jammed to the song, but, no one can deny that this was truly a summer anthem.

5. Can't Hold Us - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton (2013)

Remember when Macklemore & Ryan Lewis dominated the charts from Thrift Shop to Same Love? This was definitely the song that got the party started at any party in summer 2013. Sure, you probably couldn't keep up with how fast Macklemore's flow was in this song, but you couldn't help but dance around and feel invincible whenever this song came on the radio.

6. Best Song Ever - One Direction (2013)

Face it, whether you loved or hated the band, you heard this song at every shopping mall because One Direction was coming out with their documentary later that summer. The song haunted many people with the infectious "ooh-ooh-oohs" and "yeah, yeah, yeahs." Even if it wasn't your favorite song, the song was right about one thing: you danced all night to the best song ever.

7. Stay With Me - Sam Smith (2014)

Just hearing the first few chords of Stay With Me probably brought tears to your eyes. Whether you were having a rough time with your significant other or crying about an ex, you probably wanted to stay at home and just eat a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. This song was a hard-hitter in summer of 2014 for a lot of heartbroken people, it's no wonder 2014 was such an emotional year!

8. Rude - MAGIC! (2014)

"Why you gotta be so rude" became a phrase that you couldn't help but sing out to every rude co-worker, friend or family member. This reggae-style ballad about a boy getting rejected by his father-in-law resonated with a lot of people that summer for a hundred different reasons than the actual meaning of the song.

9. Shut Up And Dance - Walk The Moon (2015)

Not only did this song make you feel like you were in a 1980s coming of age film, you danced like you were in one. This song definitely ranks pretty high on the nostalgia scale seeing as how it might even make your parents feel like this song played at their high school dance. It was probably pretty awkward explaining to them that the song was from 2015.

10. Dessert - Dawin featuring Silentó (2015)

This song would come out of nowhere and all you knew was one of the voices was the guy who sang the "Whip Nae-Nae." It was a weird song because it would sound completely normal until you heard the phrase "Whatcha gon' do with that dessert?" and the bass drops out of nowhere into an infectious beat. You couldn't help but dance along to this at the summer parties.

11. One Dance - Drake (2016)

After Drake became a meme with the previous single, "Hotline Bling," this song brought out a new side of Drake that no one had ever heard of before. His Caribbean-inspired beats had hips shaking everywhere and to this day when played on the radio, it's still a sure fire way to kick start a party.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
