When summer comes around, you look forward to spending as much time outside as you can. Growing up, we always started making dinner on the grill and eating out on the porch once it got warm out. Grilled food, sugary drinks and sweet treats for later are what make summer dining that much more enjoyable.

1. White Strawberry Lemon Sangria

First starting with some drinks when summer comes around you can mix up some Sangria. This drink is perfect for summer, as it is inspired by strawberry lemonade. Refreshing and sweet that includes a buzz.

2. Raspberry Mojito Punch

These mojitos are a mix of raspberry, lime and mint. Mojitos are a great pairing with any Mexican or Cuban inspired cuisine.

3. Summer Salad

This salad that includes fresh fruit and vibrant greens will help you get into shape for your summer body and will reward your taste buds.

4. Tomato, Cucumber, Avocado Salad

A twist on the well known caprese salad, here is a mix of diced cucumber, tomato, avocado and mozzarella to add as a side or main dish.

5. Summer Roll

When you're feeling a kick for some Asian inspired food, try these summer rolls that are packed with lots of vegetables and flavors.

6. Salmon Skewer

Seafood in the summer is one of my favorite memories from the weeks spent at the shore with my family. As a kid, I always enjoyed eating off kabobs, and now I realize they make cooking ten times easier.

7. Grilled Hawaiian Chicken Teriyaki Bowl

One of the fresh fruits in the summer is pineapple. Here pineapple is incorporated into the meal to add a Hawaiian flare.

8. Grilled Shrimp Tacos

Shrimp is another fresh summer seafood that is easy to throw on the grill to create these delicious tacos.

9. Zucchini Noodles and Creamy Avocado Pesto

From the inspiration of a creamy pasta dish this is a healthy and easy dish to make, zucchini pasta in an avocado pesto to give you great taste without the guilt.

10. Watermelon Push Pops

Inspired by the childhood memory of push pops from the ice cream man, here are some push pops made from real watermelon and kiwi.

11. Grilled Peaches

There is nothing like enjoying a juicy peach on a summer day. Try grilling a peach and adding a scoop of ice cream as a new dessert.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating.
