11 Struggles Of Being An Older Sister
Aindrila Halder

The day when the world turned upside down and you lost all your freedom. It can get pretty exhausting being the older sister, especially when all the attention is targeted to the younger one. Just like any other role in the family, being an older sister and sibling undoubtedly comes with loads of responsibility. It may be the worst thing but it can also be the best thing that has ever happened to you.

1. You always have to be on your A-Game.

When you are labeled as a role model, you cannot be anything other than perfect. You are to get in no trouble and be on your A-game no matter what. Because apparently the younger ones will grow up to be just like you.

2. If they get in trouble or hurt, it's your fault.

You will always be the one taking the blame. They just sit there, look pretty and laugh while you get grounded. 'Your little brother is following into your footsteps', 'They are too young to understand'. How many times have you heard those words before?!

3. They know all of your secrets.

They will threaten you to get anything done their way. They will find out your secrets. Ever had a crush in school, that you did not want anyone to find out about? Well, forget it because you'll have the younger one doing the spilling. Secrets will never be secrets anymore. And when they're about to spill the beans you're like:

4. Your younger sibling will get to do everything you didn't get to.

Can you imagine the anger, when they are allowed to do everything you couldn't. They get their first phone before you ever did, and on top of that, they get the better kind! Your curfew was at 8 p.m. while your younger sibling can be out as long as he or she desires.

5. Your parents definitely praise and love your younger sibling more.

Favoritism in the family does exist! Your little brother will always get to hold the TV remote. So you just give them a little heads up for later.

6. Your siblings will do better in everything and you will not be able to bare the jealousy.

You really prepared them for life, they will learn from your mistakes and will not repeat them. You will end end up doing all the bad deeds first, and get in big trouble. When they do the same it will not even phase them. So while you get slaughtered in life, it'll be just a breeze for that little minion.

7. If you have a younger brother, he has probably added all of your girlfriends on social media by now.

Newsflash, he's just obsessed with getting all the compliments from all the girls.

8. Although you can never be the perfect role model, you will always be someone they aspire to be.

Obviously you can't always resent them. And in a way, them looking up to you makes you feel that much more fabulous.

9. Your younger sibling will always be your best friend.

You know who to go to when you get sick of your parents, life, boys, girlfriends, and more! Your younger sibling will always be there to listen to you and may also give you advice you'd never think of.

10. You eventually become the wiser one.

As you get older, you eventually become wiser because you have experienced so much more than they have.

11. You never want them to grow up.

Since when are they allowed to have a crush? You get a little more protective of them because you only want the best for them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
