As an Odyssey Online Content Creator and Editor in Chief, I experience and hear about all the struggles of being a devoted writer. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Odyssey, but let's face it, we are college students (mostly) and we love to complain. Who better to tell our struggles than the one and only Alexander Hamilton (the musical).
1. "Why do you write like you're running out of time?"
We procrastinate or have a million ideas and we are "Non-Stop." We write like this because our articles are literally due in 10 minutes.
2. "I gotta get this plan through Congress"
Through the mind of a content creator, we hope and pray our article doesn't get rejected with problems. Congress represents the editing team.
3. "I wanna be in the room where it happens"
Sorry, I can't because I'm an EIC and I have to make sure everyone's articles are acceptable.
4. "You'll be back"
Oh, you're leaving? I'm not worried...you'll be back.
5. "I'm lookin' for a mind at work"
This is literally the epitome of trying to recruiting members, who don't slack.
6. "God, I hope you're satisfied"
I fixed literally every oxford comma you used and linked your pictures for you, instead of sleeping... I hope you're satisfied.
7. "You're openly campaigning [...] Honestly, it's kinda draining"
Sharing your articles everywhere like you're trying to win "the Election of 1800."
8. "Show me how to say no to this"
When you have a really bad article idea but it is the only one you have so you just go with it.
9. "I strike him right between the ribs"
This can be used interchangeably. When an EIC secretly throws shade at someone on their team in GroupMe/Slack. Also, when a content creator writes an amazing article slamming someone or something. Time to call the ambulance because shots have been fired.
10. "I'm willing to wait for it"
When your article isn't published until Tuesday or later. Also, when a writer says their article can't be in until the next day. Both are irritating but you have to wait.
11. "Don't act surprised, you guys, 'cause I wrote 'em"
When an article does well, we get arrogant. Don't be surprised because I wrote this article.
