The 11 Stages of Attending a Concert
Kristen Amrhein

Attending concerts has been my thing since I was four years old. My first concert was an NSYNC* concert! I absolutely loved Justin Timberlake. He is my favorite out of the band, which makes sense because look at him now. I loved the Jonas Brothers, but Nick Jonas was my favorite, and look at him now. I love One Direction so much that my heart hurts every day they are not together making music. I am still patiently waiting for them to come back. My husband/favorite member is Harry Styles and look at him filming a movie and signing a solo contract with Columbia Records. My most recent concert was 5 Seconds of Summer at Madison Square Garden. It was their first time playing MSG, which is such a big achievement for an Australian band

I have a picture frame full of concert tickets to show that I have gone to over 50+ shows in my life and will continue to attend many more. But enough about my concert junky life. Let us get into the 11 stages of attending a concert.

1. The initial excitement of purchasing tickets

I think I am the most excited after purchasing tickets. I don't have to worry about not having tickets once they're purchased. You can go to the arena and not have to worry about getting a seat!

2. The countdown!

I use the Countdown App on my iPhone for any special event such as a vacation, concert, birthday, party, etc... You can personalize the countdown by putting a picture such as the artist(s)/band you are seeing.

3. Listening to the artist(s)/band non stop until the show

I listened to Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas for a month in advance so that my mother knew the music when we went two weeks ago.

4. The night before...

The anticipation is high. The excitement is high. The sleep level is low.

5. Arriving at the venue

I always arrive an hour or thirty minutes before the doors even open.

6. Watching the opening acts

Sometimes there is an opening act you don't know of and don't actually like. Other times there is an opening act you know and love so your reaction depends on that.

7. When your bae is on stage

UTTER LOVE AND EXCITEMENT!

8. Dancing and singing to your favorite song, wishing the moment will never end

I'm always dancing and singing. Isn't that basically the whole point of going to a concert?! You know it was a good concert when you lose your voice afterward, like I did.

9. Trying to exit the venue

Venues need to figure out a way to file people out of the place without people pushing, pulling, yelling and fighting. Also, the rudeness of people when exiting is uncalled for.

10. Post Concert Depression (PCD)

This is when you are playing the artist's music on replay while wishing you could just go back and re-live the night over and over again.

11. Repeat

On to the next artist you want to see and the stages of attending a concert will begin yet again.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
