Prince's recent passing has created a national reflection on his life and many contributions to the music world. As one of the most talented recording artists of his time, Prince made a historical career out of both performing and songwriting, often writing songs for other musical artists. Despite his passing, Prince's memory will live on through the music that his fans have always enjoyed.

Here are 11 songs you may not have known were written by Prince:

1. "Manic Monday" by The Bangles


"Manic Monday" was written by Prince under the pseudonym Christopher, and was the first single of The Bangles' second record "Different Light."

2. "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore" by Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys released her cover of this Prince original in 2001.

3. "Love Song" by Madonna

Prince provided backup vocals and guitar on this song that he co-wrote with Madonna in 1989.

4. "Pray" by M.C. Hammer

"Pray," M.C. Hammer's second single after "Can't Touch This," was an original. However, there are similarities to Prince's "When Doves Cry."

5. "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor

Prince wrote this song for Sinead O'Connor, which was her only hit song in 1990.

6. "I Feel For You" by Chaka Khan

"I Feel For You" won a Grammy six years after it appeared on Prince's self-titled sophomore album in 1979. In 1984, Chaka Kan released a funky rendition of the song. By 1985, "I Feel For You" appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 as No. 3, and won the Grammy for Best R&B Song of the year.

7. "When You Were Mine" by Cyndi Lauper

This song written by Prince appeared as a b-side to "Controversy" by Cyndi Lauper in 1981.

8. "Round And Round" by Tevin Campbell

Prince wrote "Round And Round," which ended up showcasing 13-year-old Tevin Campbell as his debut. In the fall of 1990, "Round And Round" peaked at No. 12 on the Hot 100 list.

9. "Jerk Out" by The Time

The Time, led by Morris Day, was originally put together by Prince as one of his artistic outlets. "Jerk Out" was their highest-charting single after appearing in the movie "Graffiti Bridge."

10. "Jungle Love" by The Time

In the movie Purple Rain, The Time played as Prince's rival band. However, Prince and Morris Day were actually good friends in real life, and Prince co-wrote "Jungle Love" with Day for the movie.

11. "Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks

Before going solo in 1983, Stevie Nicks co-wrote "Stand Back" with Prince. This song has been said to sound very similar to one of her later solo songs, "Little Red Corvette."
