Many individuals face troublesome times in their lives which cause them to break down emotionally and mentally. As humans, we are vulnerable to whatever life throws at us. It can severely impact our mood for the worst. Whether it is a recent, unexpected breakup or not fulfilling one's expectations, life is tough. It is not an easy walk in the park. When a person begins to feel low about themselves, it can affect the path they are going on. It is fortunate that many well-known artists have felt the same way. They are not super humans just because they are celebrities; their lives are not perfect, and there is an argument that theirs are more complicated. Fortunately, many of them write songs on how they are dealing with their own difficult times. Here are the top 11 songs that focus on handling life's hardships.

1. Not Afraid, Eminem

Listening to Eminem's commanding ballad of making the right decision even when the mind keeps telling him otherwise is relatable to many individuals. He makes sure to let his audience know that if he has the ability to resolve his personal battles for the sake of his daughter, we also have the power to change ourselves for the better.

2. Pursuit of Happiness, Kid Cudi

If you've ever listened to Pursuit of Happiness, Kid Cudi is singing about reaching happiness after a long time of dwelling in his sadness. He has also gone through a depressing time, and people can be happy even if it for a brief moment. Cudi understands that happiness in not easily attainable, so this song provides a glimmer of hope for people.

3. Elastic Heart, Sia

When I hear Sia's Elastic Heart, it reminds me that anyone can be strong against the ruthless bullies, especially when she sings, "I've got thick skin and an elastic heart." One could also pursue the song after a wrenching breakup because she mentions that she is going to fight for her mental peace no matter what.

4. Live your Life, T.I. & Rihanna

After hearing Live your Life by rapper, T.I. and pop-star, Rihanna, this song is meant to reboot your mindset. They mention that instead of people dwelling on what they do not have, they should be thankful for what they do have. When people need to get back on the track to success, they should listen to this for powerful motivation.

5. Take a Walk, Passion Pit

Take a Walk, by the indie pop band, Passion Pit, is resonates because lots of people cannot get out a depression due to financial struggles. The simple solution Passion Pit suggests is to take a calm, relaxing walk. People must make time for themselves so they can clear their mind and consciously handle their issues.

6. Superheroes, The Script

Superheroes is a triumphant ballad about how someone who has constantly been told they will amount to nothing when they're older. The Script's message conveys that they do have the power to fight on against all the odds. They must not be discouraged by others' jarring thoughts, but must turn their pain into power.

7. Skyscraper, Demi Lovato

The way Demi Lovato sings Skyscraper can really make a person cry. She mentions how a cruel individual (more so her critics) can try to tear her down as if she is vulnerable. In the end, she will be brave by standing tall like a sturdy, powerful skyscraper that cannot be broken down. She will have the last laugh.

8. You Are Not Alone, Michael Jackson

When people hear of Michael Jackson, they think of the greatest entertainer of all time. However, they forget to realize that he has faced so much scrutiny in his own personal life that he understands. He is a human being trying to tell us that we are not alone and he is always there, especially for his fans he loved so much.

9. The Climb, Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus's slow, gradual buildup of The Climb tries to put a positive light on life's journey. If life was easy, there would be no point in working really hard to achieve a goal. She brings up how there is always gonna be another mountain, an uphill battle, that we will need to climb if we want to achieve our precious dreams.

10. The Show Goes On, Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco's catchy, hip-hop hit is a direct aim at the young struggling youth who have seemed to lost the sunshine in their lives. He mentions how he was once that "little boy terrified of the world, but now I'm on a world tour" providing optimism that there are always better days ahead if they keep believing. The show still goes on.

11. A New Day Has Come, Celine Dion

This is one of Celine Dion's most beautiful songs where she talks about making it through "the darkness and good times." She is finally able to see a hopeful light after a heavy rainfall washes away her tears of sadness. A new day of pleasure and starting over has finally come. She reassures that every thing is going to be okay.
