11 Signs You Haven't Completely Grown Out of Your Pop Punk Phase

We all went through an "emo" phase at one point in our lives. (And if you didn't, you seriously missed out.) For some, it only lasted a month, for others it lasted all throughout middle school, and for a few of us, well, we never really quite grew out of it. I'm not saying I still listen to All Time Low 24/7 and only wear black nail polish. But let's just say my current fashion style and music taste reflects this phase of my life.

So, if you're anything like me, here are some things you probably still do if you haven't quite grown out of your pop punk phase.

1. Instead of jamming out to Taylor Swift after a bad day, you tend to turn on some angsty music instead.

2. You can't help but make your eyeliner line just a little bit thicker than it should be.

3. You beg your friends to come with you to your old favorite bands' concerts but they think it's too "screamo." (Even though it's totally not, it's pop punk.. there's a big difference!)

4. Black nail polish is still your go-to. (And just black clothing in general actually.)

5. You still own like 10 pairs of converse.

6. Band tees are regular part of your wardrobe.

7. You roll your eyes at people who are JUST NOW getting into Panic! at the Disco.

8. When someone plays a throwback All-American Rejects song at a party and you suddenly become the life of the party.

9. You've turned from pop punk to indie rock because it's a much more sophisticated genre but still has those "meaningful" lyrics that you oh so you to love.

10. You still think guys who wear skinny jeans, vans, and beanies are cute.

11. But, you're happy you went through that unfortunately awkward phase and that it's still apart of you because else would you have be able to get all your teen angst out?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
