Having an amazing significant other is awesome and makes life so much better. Obviously everyone thinks their bae is the best for different reasons, but here are just a few signs that most would agree proves that you do indeed have someone truly special.

1. They can make you smile and laugh even when you don't feel like it.

Nothing is better than being down and having your boyfriend or girlfriend easily cheer you up. Sure, whatever it is that's bothering you might not be completely fixed, but simply being reminded that you're cared about and loved (even just from them being silly) can make a world of difference.

2. You can truly be yourself around them.

This might mean more to shyer people, but I think even those who are more outgoing can agree that it's actually not that easy to find someone you can be yourself with - and I mean completely. That's why it's so amazing when you do find that person.

3. They encourage and support you.

Having people believe in you means a lot, and it's no different when it comes to the person you're dating. It can be so easy to get discouraged and think you're incapable of fulfilling your dreams. That's why it's so meaningful when they believe in you when you don't - or even better, when they believe in you more than you believe in yourself.

4. You guys can talk about anything together - and you do.

Being able to talk to your significant other about anything is a sign of how close you guys are - and I honestly think some people don't realize how important this really is. You should be able to talk about anything - from serious and deep stuff to silly stuff that you'd feel embarrassed to talk to anyone else about.

5. They make you feel better about yourself.

This is especially true for those who maybe don't have the best self-esteem. Not only do you feel better about yourself because of all the compliments they give you (although that does help) but you also think better of yourself because of how awesome they are. In other words, you start to think that maybe you are a bit more awesome than you think simply because such an amazing person is with you and thinks you're amazing too - it just makes sense, you know?

6. You know that you can reach out to them anytime and they'll be there for you.

And no, I'm not being unrealistic and saying that if you call them at literally any time of the day that they'll answer immediately - obviously life keeps us all pretty busy and to expect otherwise is silly. But you know that your significant other is great when you can trust that they'll get back with you as soon as they can. Whether it's because you have exciting news, are having a bad day and need to talk or simply because you miss them and wanted to chat, you know they'll find time for you.

7. They help make the future seem less scary.

This can be especially true depending on what stage of life you're in (like college, for example) but no matter your age, odds are, thinking about the future can make you nervous. But knowing you have your significant other by your side through it all helps makes the unknown a little less scary and even more exciting.

8. You guys can go anywhere together and it'll be fun.

When you're with the right person, you guys can basically go anywhere and do anything and it'll be fun, just because you're together - even grocery shopping.

9. They do cute things that remind you how much they care and love you.

"It's the little things" is a phrase that really does resonate with a lot of people. And "the little things" are different for everyone, but whether it's a cute good morning text, asking how your day was or just them showing you something that made them think of you, these tiny things and more mean a lot. And sometimes you don't realize it until you have a significant other who does these things.

10. You feel like they've helped you become a better person.

People say that couples should complement each other, and I think that's because those that do help make each other better - and that's definitely an awesome thing. You're obviously never going to be perfect, but it really is so cool to realize that being with someone is helping you become the best version of yourself.

11. They are your best friend

As cliche as it may sound, this really is so important. Obviously you have other friends, even other best friends, but if your significant other isn't one of your best friends, is that relationship even worth having? I definitely don't think so.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
