While attending university, there are many rules and guidelines that you must agree to obey. However, along with the written rules, there are a few unspoken rules that everyone seems to agree to. And even though all of these rules, spoken and unspoken, are usually obeyed, there are times when you just have to break them. All OSU students have broken these following rules at least one or twice.
1. Jaywalking.
Despite the existence of multiple crosswalks down Monroe and Hall of Fame, the Oklahoma State student body is full of lawbreaking jaywalkers.
2. Ditching class on game day.
While most games are on Saturdays, occasionally a Thursday will host a Cowboy's game. When that happens, class attendance is guaranteed to basically be cut in half.
3. Illegal permit parking.
With such a large student body, finding a parking spot where your permit is valid can be extremely difficult. Sometimes you just have to park in Staff and pray to the parking gods for mercy.
4. Asking Yik Yak stupid questions.
Everyone is annoyed to see 374 million Yaks asking, "When is the Colvin closing today?" However, we've all been the one to ask our fellow Yakkers a stupid question now and again.
5. Speeding on Highway 51.
Despite the posted speed being 65 mph, 51 just seems like the perfect place to go 80 mph.
6. Having a full night's sleep in Edmon Low.
You know you should go home. You'll sleep better, and be more refreshed for the morning. But sometimes those library chairs just look too appealing.
7. Firing pistols for no reason.
Mom bought you more Sunny D? Pistols firing! Got an A on your stats exam? Pistols firing! We have all throw up our guns in excitement, even when we're nowhere near a sporting event.
8. Devouring an entire pint of Billy Goat ice cream in one sitting.
While it might be one of the more expensive food items in 20 Something, Billy Goat ice cream is delicious and you can take down a pint in one sitting.
9. Taking the free food and bailing.
Be it a ResLife program, an informational meeting or a booth by the Chi-O Clock, we've all dropped in, made our plate, and bailed before the festivities even kicked off.
10. Parking in 30 minute for one or more hours.
Maybe you're in a rush. Maybe you're just too lazy to find an actual spot. Sitting in 30-minute parking for over an hour might be rude, but sometimes it's necessary.
11. Signing your absent friend in to class.
While your BFF is nursing a hangover, you actually went to American Government. And because you're such a great friend, you initial their name on the sign-in sheet/take their clicker to class for them. It might be wrong, but it's what bros do.
