When you want to watch a movie that'll make you laugh, or sometimes cry, that involves love and romance, a romantic comedy is what you should watch. I have compiled here a list of what I think some of the best rom-coms are. Everyone should see all of these movies at least once in their lifetime.
1. The Notebook
A classic that even guys will know the name of and try to stay far away from. This Nicholas Sparks novel turned into film is filled with laughter, love, and maybe some tears. This is a love story for not just teens, but older generations will appreciate it as well.
2. Titanic
Everyone should know the historic reference and just about everyone knows the movie. If you haven’t seen it, go and find it right now and watch it. A classic story of people from different classes fall in love. They come together just as tragedy strikes. Definitely worth the watch.
3. The Longest Ride
Another Nicholas Sparks novel made into a movie. This is a tale of city girl falls for country boy, mixed in with another story of an older couple and their life. The young couple befriends the older man who tells stories of his wife. This emotional story is a must see.
4. Ten Things I Hate About You
A 90’s classic rom-com with Heath Ledger as the main guy. It shows two sisters and guys who are pining after them, but one of the guys is being paid. They end up falling for each other and everything is great until she finds out he is lying. A great teen romance to watch.
5. Me Before You
A recently released film, but based off the excellent novel. Set in the beautiful English countryside, it tells the story of a man who had a terrible accident and the girl hired to take care of him. Through the time spent together, they fall for each other but something could keep them apart from a happy ending. A tear jerking but great story.
6. Safe Haven
More Nicholas Sparks for your pleasure. Julianne Hough is brilliant in this love story of girl on the run who finds a safe place and a man to help her find a new home and better life. There are some twists and turns within the story but overall great.
7. Bridget Jones Diary
A British classic that is about a girl named Bridget Jones and her hot mess love life. Two guys come into her view, but one is not as good as she thinks and makes the other one look bad. Bridget finds out the truth and realizes she made a mistake. This movie is hilarious and has some romance as well.
8. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
A hilarious look on the life of a Greek girl in America with a crazy large family who only wants the best for her. She falls in love with a non-Greek boy and that causes some drama with her family, but ultimately turns out for the best.
9. Clueless
Another 90’s classic, this one is about a rich girl named Cher, who is Daddy’s girl. Cher is the most popular girl in school and she tries to help the new girl fit in by giving her a makeover and find a guy. Things don’t go quite as she planned, but somehow end up better.
10. How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days
In this movie, the guy and the girl both have alternative motives for getting together. The guy has a bet to lose a guy in ten days, and the guy has a bet to fall in love in ten days. With both of their unknowing bets taking place, humor ensues as well as chaos.
