Kanye West is no regular human being. He is an incredible rapper, songwriter, producer, fashion designer, entrepreneur, husband, father and most importantly: Yeezus.

Now I'ma let you finish, but here are 11 reasons why Kanye West is one of the biggest heroes of all time.

1. He created his own success and followed his dreams

West, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, was raised in Chicago, Illinois and Nanjing, China. Despite the fact that he was the only foreigner in his class, West picked up the language very quickly and reports to have received all A’s and B’s in high school. After spending his teenage years in China, he received a scholarship to Chicago’s American Academy of Art, but quickly transferred to Chicago State University, where he planned on majoring in English. At the age of 20, however, Kanye decided to drop out of college to pursue his dreams of being a rapper when his school schedule began to interfere with his desired career. That obviously worked out pretty well for him.

2. He can own his mistakes

Yes, it probably wasn’t the smartest decision for Kanye West to interrupt Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech for Best Music Video at the 2009 VMAs. West obviously received a ton of backlash from Taylor Swift fans as well as the mainstream media. However, Kanye took the initiative to apologize to Swift, creating one of the best and most popular friendships in history. Talk about bestie goals.

3. He wrote and recorded an entire single with his mouth wired shut

In 2002, West broke his jaw in a near-fatal car accident in Los Angeles, California. Only two weeks after having reconstructive surgery, Kanye recorded his debut single “Through the Wire” while just jaw was still wired shut. This single went on to reach the top 15 on Billboard’s Top 100 and was also nominated for a Grammy. Talk about skill and dedication.

4. He speaks his mind and doesn’t worry about the backlash

This one is pretty obvious. Who else would hop onstage at the VMAs and tell the winner that they didn’t deserve their award? Who else would go on insane twitter rants on the daily? Who else would make a 10-minute long music video of himself and other celebrities in bed naked? Nobody, that’s who.

5. He has better lyrics than every other rapper

Have you ever heard any of his songs? I shouldn’t even have to explain this one.

6. Everything he does in a work of art

In Kanye’s brilliant mind, a song isn’t just a song. An album cover isn’t just an album cover. The track list isn’t just the track list. They are each a small part of his amazing masterpiece. West even said, “We spend just as much time working on the actual album packaging, as the video concept, as the song…Everything is equally as important.” A true artist.

7. Look at the awards he’s won

As of today, Kanye West has been nominated for 369 awards and has won a total of 92 (in which 21 of them were Grammy Awards).

8. He’s the most fashionable man on the planet

Aside from his ability to spit controversial rhymes, the man knows how to dress. In fact, he was voted the Most Stylish Man by GQ magazine in 2015, beating out other fashion icons such as David Beckham and Lucky Blue Smith. Talk about a passion for fashion.

9. Now that he’s conquered the music industry, he is taking the fashion world by storm

West has successfully created and three collections of his fashion line “Yeezy,” and has shown them all at New York Fashion Week. One of the most popular items from his line is his Yeezy Boost shoes, which sell out instantly across the globe.

10. He’s married to Kim Kardashian

Seriously, who doesn’t want to be a part of the Kardashian Klan? I’d do just about anything to be in their family tree. Also, have you seen the pictures from their wedding? Adorbs (and expensive).

11. He’s a genuinely nice guy

He may rap about other celebrities to make a good punchline, but that doesn’t necessarily define his character. Lately, we’ve seen the controversy between Kimye (Kanye West and Kim Kardashian-West) and Taylor Swift after he raps “For all my Southside n****** that know me best, I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**** famous.” However, before recording the song, West called Swift and asked for permission to use that line in his hit song “Famous.” In reality, no other rapper would ever ask permission from someone that they are rapping about. Mad respect to you, Yeezy.

Moral of this story: Yeezus rhymes with Jesus for a reason.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
