11 Reasons Why Wonder Woman Is The Hero We Truly Need

As most of you may be aware, last Friday brought to us the much-anticipated release of the Wonder Woman film. Personally, I didn't know what to expect from it because it was a DC movie and I hadn't seen much promotion for the film. But much to everyone's surprise, Wonder Woman was a smash hit. It devasted other films in the box office and continues to rack up praise from many sources. I personally loved this movie so much. I'm a huge fan of superhero movies and was stoked when I heard they were making a wonder woman movie, little just I know just how amazing this movie was going to be. The more I hear about it the more I come to believe that Diana Prince, otherwise known as Wonder Woman, is the hero we truly deserve and need now more than ever.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

1. She's played by Gal Gadot

I, like probably many others, didn't have much knowledge about Gal Gadot before seeing this movie. The only thing that I had ever seen her one was Box of Lies with Jimmy Fallon, but even just her appearance on The Tonight Show was enough to make me fall in love with her just a little bit. I'm 95% sure that she is an actual goddess, but that's a discussion for another time.

2. She is a total badass

She fiercer than Thor and Captain America put together. I could watch her kick their asses all day, every day. But I think that the most amazing part of her badass nature is that she wasn't trained by men, she came from an island where she was trained by strong, powerful women that encouraged and trained her to be the same. She's unstoppable and I'm here for it.

3. As Badass, as she is, She's also incredibly kind

She never once looks down on anyone in this movie. She cares so much for the woman, child and any innocent that is being hurt by the war. She has the kindest, bravest soul. This is exemplified with Charlie, first when he's having the nightmare and she rushes to comfort him and secondly after he failed to shoot out the sniper because he couldn't due to what I assume to be PTSD. She doesn't chide him or put him down for not doing his job but only makes sure he's ok AND makes sure he sticks around with the group in the nicest way possible.

4. She's a pure soul

Seeing as she grew up on an island without modern amenities or food, watching her try ice cream just might be the cutest thing ever. I mean look at how innocent and lovely she is when tries the pure joy that is ice cream. SO PRECIOUS

5. She low-key against fat shaming.

This can be seen in the scene at the department store. When she approaches the corset and asks if this is the human version of female armor. She's completely shocked at Etta's response to it being used for hiding our tummy's. She's not here for it.

6. She's literally a goddess

She is literally the daughter of Zeus, I don't think I really need to say much more than that. Because if she wasn't technically a goddess already, I'd still consider her one because well she's amazing.

7. She is no man

Steve:

Diana:

I can't be the only one that immediately thought of Eowyn's iconic line for LOTR during this scene. Diana's just like, "Watch me boo", crosses it and rallies the troops as well.

9. She proved that love makes you stronger

While their romance is short-lived *sobs* they're love for each other gave them the strength to do what had to be done, because as Steve says, "I can save today, you can save the world tomorrow." It's a great message of this movie, that "only love can truly save the world." With all the hate in the world at this time, it's something that needs to be stressed over and over again.

10. She's confirmed as being Bisexual

So she's a kickass goddess superhero that takes no shit and also likes ladies too? I'm down. It makes sense since she comes from an island of all women and that they have come to the conclusion that, "men are necessary for procreation but not for pleasure." Do you, Diana, you're still gonna slay. The thing that makes this so awesome that its confirmed 2 days into Pride Month.

11. She SMASHED the patriarchy

She not only conquered it in the film but in theaters in general. In the film, she conquered no man's land as well as fat-shaming and being an all around fabulous role-model for girls of all ages. In the box office, she conquered Logan's, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Doctor Strange's box office numbers. Proving that female lead superhero's can and will succeed, your move Marvel.

In conclusion to Wonder Woman
