Many girls my age constantly struggle with relationships. They want to be loved by someone and they want to be people's "relationship goals." Me? I'd rather be single, and here's why:
1. I like my free time
I cannot imagine having to worry about someone all of the time. I am just learning how to take care of myself, and I cannot imagine throwing someone else into the mix. I like being able to do whatever I want without having to make sure I am pleasing someone else.
2. I enjoy my independence
I have seen way too many girls lose who they are to a boy, and I do not want that for myself. Yes, I have control of my life and my own choices, but not having a boyfriend is making me stronger.
3. I enjoy myself
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy company, but I enjoy myself more. I have learned so much about myself while being single, and I think I'm pretty fun.
4. I am picky
I have very high standards for people. I expect the best from them, and I would hope that they would do the same for me. I don't have a list of all the qualities I want in my perfect man, but I know that most of the men I have met do not fit my standards.
5. I am too immature
I am a mature individual, but I believe adding a relationship to my maturity would change me. I honestly think I am too immature for a relationship, and I will be very open about it. If I feel that I am too immature to be in a relationship, how will it ever work?
6. I have too much on my plate
I am finishing my freshman year of college. I am about to have a full time job in a different state, and then I have to come back and go back to school. I am learning how to cope with all of this and adding a guy to it will only stress me out.
7. I'm scared
Relationships these days are different. People are too worried about sliding into someone's DMs or "liking" someone's picture. Relationship's focus way too much on sex, and sex just isn't my thing. No judgment to those that have sex, but I'm not interested.
8. I'm broke
I am a broke college student. I don't even have enough money to get a full tank of gas, so there is no way I am getting to spoil my man.
9. My relationship with God is more important
Do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with having a relationship with God and having a relationship with a boy. In fact, that's how it should be. You should have a man that loves you and loves the Lord more. But personally, I need to focus on my relationship with God because then He will place someone worthy in my life.
10. My family
My family is awesome, but the last time I brought a boy home, I thought I was going to kill them. They have my best interest at heart, but it was too much for me.
11. I just don't
If those reasons weren't enough for you to understand that I don't want a relationship, and I will leave you with this: I just do not want a relationship. I am happy with myself.
