Ladies, you may not think it's OK to be classified as "nerdy" or "quirky" after you grow out of your elementary or middle school stage, but I'm here to tell you it is.

Spoken like a true nerd myself, there is no reason to be ashamed of your nerd girl side. Trust me, it's pretty awesome over here on the dark side.

1. Smart will always be sexy.

For those of you that take intelligence seriously, I guarantee you will someday find someone who not only appreciates your smartness, but admires and cherishes it. Maybe it's not all in the glasses, but it certainly helps.

2. We make the best friends, like ever.

Remember how I said you'd find someone who appreciates and admires your smartness? Well, that goes for the whole nerd bit too. When you let your nerd flag fly, you find other nerds that you can be yourself with. Plus, who doesn't want a girl that joins them in playing video games instead of nagging them to "stahhhp" constantly?

3. It's pretty easy to stay out of trouble most of the time.

When your days and nights look like this instead of out partying at the club, trust me, you're not going to cause too much trouble.. unless you forget to pay those library fines every once in a while... whoops.

4. You never get bored.

When you need something to do, you just delve into your collection of Marvel or DC movies, your comic and anime collection, or your near-library size collection of books.

5. Escaping reality is as easy as the flip of a page.

Reading a book is like getting lost in another world; when your world feels like its been turned upside down, it feels pretty great to jump into someone else's for awhile.

6. We make the greatest girlfriends.

Remember how easily Beast fell for Belle? Whether you believe it or not, guys really do like smart and geeky girls. We're not your standard female, and we have so much more to love.

7. We're easy to buy for.

Our families and friends never have to struggle with what to buy us for birthdays or Christmas. They know what to get us! Anything that's by Tolkien or is Marvel themed. I'll love you forever, promise.

8. Fandoms forever.

We live in a time where things like comics and fantasy stories are being made into some pretty kick-ass movies and TV shows, and the characters aren't exactly tough to look at (swoon).

9. The learning is endless.

One of the best things about being a nerd is all the stuff you get to learn. Knowing things is awesome, and learning more things is even more awesome.

10. We have a thick skin.

Us nerds can live in pretty different worlds from the norm of society—it makes us different and it makes us stand out, but we couldn't care less about fitting in with the norm and will embrace our nerdiness until the day we die.

11. We're just plain awesome.

We know who we are and we love every bit of it; it makes us real, and that isn't always easy to find nowadays.

So let your nerd flag fly, ladies, and embrace all the glory that comes with it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
