Birthdays are inherently fun, and not just because of the presents: there's fun with family and friends, yummy food and all the reflection that comes with gaining another year. But what's even more fun than celebrating one birthday? Celebrating two birthdays!
Meeting someone who was born the same day as you (sometimes even within the same hour as you) feels strangely like meeting your long-lost twin. In celebration of the fact that my "spiritual twin" and my birthday is coming up next week, here are 11 reasons it's super fun to share a birthday with one of your best friends!
1. You have a built-in birthday celebration buddy no matter what.
They want to celebrate your birthday, you want to celebrate your's -- even if it's just a birthday dinner out with friends, there's twice the excitement.
2. You've discovered a commonality much cooler than having the same name.
Saying, "Hi [insert name]" and hearing the same response gets old, but saying "x number of days until our birthday!" never will.
3. You have an excuse to celebrate your half-birthday.
They're just as fun as real birthdays, especially if you won't be able to see your birthday twin on your real birthday that year. The more times you can celebrate in a year, the better!
4. You might have the same numbers after your Instagram/Twitter username.

5. It's so much easier to talk about childhood memories knowing you're the exact same age.
"I was the last person in my grade to get my driver's license!" "Me too!"

You can also look forward to milestone birthdays together, like having your first legal drink the same night!
