11 Reasons Every College Student Has To Smile

Let's be honest, being in college can definitely have it's ups and downs. Each day every college student can probably find 100 reasons to be down and out. Between grades, professors, trying to make new friends, social life and the constant fear of never getting a job after graduation day; it can be rough from time to time.

Over all it's important to remember the many reasons us college kids have to be smiling, here are just a few.

1. You have the privilege of being educated.

Don't forget that simply being a college student is a huge honor. Not everyone in the world has the opportunity to be educated, never mind choosing any school in the nation that best meets your standards. We are extremely lucky and this is a huge reason to smile.

2. Student ID discounts.

J. Crew, TOMS, Charlotte Russe, Chipotle, Subway - you name it. College kids are often offered awesome discounts that make shopping and going out for dinner a little more flexible.

3. You are gaining independence.

While it may be hard at first, college is our path to the freedom and adulthood. We finally get a sense of money, reality and bills while we are in college, which is an important experience for the future.

4. You are making lifelong friends.

Whether it was from freshmen orientation day or the last semester of senior year, chances are we'll all walk away on graduation day with a few new best friends. College is a platform of diverse people who we should be taking the opportunity to meet and become friends with.

5. You may meet your soulmate.

Around 28 percent of current spouses met the love of their life in college, so this is a good reason to be a happy college student! You never know if someone in your class is "the one."

6. Every day you are one step closer to your dream job.

Even though some classes seem pointless at times, every single credit is one step closer to the career you have always wanted.

7. You are learning things outside the classroom.

The lessons you are learning go far beyond anything a professor can say. College is the time where we learn some important life lessons from friends, family, experiences, jobs and everything in between.

8. You are creating a better you.

Failing a test, losing friends, going from being an Honor's high school student to an average college student. Whatever your journey is, college is forcing you to become a better version of yourself.

9. Nobody is judging you.

Every college student is in the same boat: stressed out, maybe lonely, maybe tired, maybe worried. Whatever the case may be chances are you have an entire support system around you ready to help you out, because they were having the same meltdown last week.

10. College is not forever.

Whenever you are having a bad day, remember that this is only temporary. You won't be cramming for exams and doing essays an hour before they are due forever. Eventually you will graduate.

11. The best is yet to come.

Think about it: getting married, being promoted to your dream job, having kids, finally becoming the you that you have dreamt of becoming your entire life. The best days of our lives are yet to exist, so cheers to that!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
