In today's society, there is so much pressure to be in a relationship. Everywhere we turn, we seem to find people holding hands with that special someone or people crying about how they do not have that special someone. But, if you are a dog owner, you know very well that you do not need a human significant other because you basically already have one. Here are 11 reasons that your furry friend is essentially your lover, and why he/she is way better than any human lover you will ever have.

Coming home from a long day at school or work? Your dog will always be waiting right at the door for you — just like your lover (hopefully) does, but your dog is even better because he always wants to see you!
3. You have 189943573 pics of them on your phone.
4. They are always first on your gift-giving list for Valentine's Day/the holidays.
Whenever you make a list of people to buy presents for during the holidays, you are lying if you say that the first name that comes to mind for the list is not your dog.
5. You get super excited about going on "dates" with them.
6. You obsessively buy them things.
If you have a significant other, you probably know that whenever you walk into a store you are more than likely to find something and think "OMG, he/she would love that!" or "He/she would look so good in that!" and you will most likely end up buying it for them, just 'cause. Well, the same thing happens with our dogs — when we see a toy or a fancy dog-clothing-item in a store that we just know would suit our fluffy friend perfectly, we are waiting in line at the cashier to buy it less than two seconds later.
7. They are the best spooners.

8. You have no problem cleaning up after them.
Face it, you hate cleaning up messes in general, but you have no problem putting up with your messy SO because they mean the world to you. On a similar note, can you seriously resist your puppy's cute smiling face even when you come home to find that they have emptied the entire pantry and they are waiting for you to clean up the kitchen?
9. You fall in love with them when you look into their eyes.

10. You talk and think about them 24/7.
You cannot stop thinking about your cuddly canine no matter how hard you try. You will often probably daydream about them in class, and you tell so many stories about them that people usually think you are talking about someone you are dating (but you are dating your dog, so they are not wrong).
11. They always listen to you, no matter what.
Your dog is the first person you tell all of your secrets and problems to, because you know that they will always be there for you and listen to you no matter how ridiculous you sound. No matter what you go through, your dog will always be there for you and never leave you behind.
