11 Reasons Why I'm Already Excited to Go Back To Salve Regina University

Although we are only about two weeks into our summer break from college, it seems as if I already cannot wait to be back in Newport. There are many reasons why I’m excited to go back to Salve in the fall.

1.) Walking on the Cliff Walk

One of the most beautiful aspects of Salve’s campus is the Cliff Walk. This trail along the ocean is perfect for stress-relief, running, or spending downtime with friends.

2.) Being able to enjoy a local Awful Awful

Awful Awfuls are like milk-shakes, except they are much better and quite unforgettable. Newport Creamery is only a few short streets away from Salve, meaning that opportunities to get an Awful Awful are plentiful.

3.) And can’t forget Del’s too

Del’s Lemonade, a Rhode Island favorite, is also close by. This is even more special for the students who live outside of Rhode Island.

4.) Clubs and activities

Between the wide variety of events and extracurricular activities that happen on campus, there are always opportunities to stay busy on the Salve campus!

5.) Seeing our friends again

Some of our friends come from further away than we are able to reach over the summer. The distance, however, makes the hellos at the beginning of the semester even better!

6.) Living in a new building

Some students are moving into either dorm buildings on campus at the beginning of the fall semester or into off-campus apartments. Either way, making a new place into a home with friends is a wonderful time!

7.) Our beautiful campus

Not only is the Cliff Walk located at the edge of our campus, but Salve is also covered with historic buildings and beautiful fields. Some of these buildings are Ochre Court, McCauley Hall, many of the converted dorm buildings, and much more. Not only do tourists love the buildings on our campus, but we do too.

8.) Having downtown Newport in the palm of our hand

Not only do we have an amazing campus to enjoy, but we are located right in the center of Newport. In the city of Newport, there is always something to do!

9.) That feeling of a fresh start at the beginning of the semester

When September comes, we will hopefully be refreshed from the summer break and fully prepared to push through another semester of hard work in our classes.

10.) Late night pizza and study sessions

When our classes get stressful, nothing beats staying up with friends while studying for exams and eating take-out food. This is always best when everyone is studying for the same exam!

11.) Being one step closer to our degrees

Try not to blink too fast, because college will be over before you know it. No matter how slow the semester may seem during the stressful times, by the end it will always feel like it flew by!

Summer is a great time of the year, however, nothing beats loving the school that you attend!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
