Po-ta-toes. Mash 'em, boil 'em, stick 'em in a stew. It’s gold to the Irish, a good starch for our diets, and can be used in over 60 different ways! However, many people look down on this underrated vegetable. Potatoes aren’t just for eating. There are so many different types of potatoes out there. They pretty much describe ourselves, especially at this point in the semester. Remember folks, we have about six to seven more weeks left in the semester, so let these eleven potatoes remind you that you’re more than just a human… you’re a human with as much potential as a potato.

1. The Potato Chip

This chip off the ole potato is nothing short of awesomeness and neither are you. The potato chip is unique, much like you the lovely reader of this article. No two potato chips are alike (don't quote me on that) and there's no one else like you, even if you have a twin! Potato chips come in different textures, brands, flavors, and packaging. Doesn't matter if you came from the Pringle can or that Lay's bag that holds half the world's atmosphere within it. What matters is that you are you! You are a potato chip.

2. The Tater Tot

The Tater Tot. It's a poppable, bite-size little friend that is so beautiful. You, my lovely reader, are also a tater tot. You can dip this guy into any sauce you wish, put it on the side of the main course, and cover it in cheese, bacon, or anything else that makes your mouth water. They're always crispy and leave you feeling content with your life. Tater tots are friends because whenever they're around, you find them and reach out to them. They can also fit inside an extra large pocket like Napoleon Dynamite did. What a genius.

3. Vodka

Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey, whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky. Well, potatoes make vodka and that is all.

4. The Sweet Potato

Ah, the sweet potato. If the name doesn't describe you, please know that it does. The sweet potato has a soft side to its internal systems, kind of like us. You are a sweet human being and remember that the love you give a sweet potato can also be given to others. Be sweet to all of those around you so they can share the sweetness.

5. Potato Soup

Damn, you are potato soup. First off, soup is good for the soul, but put a potato in and bam! Potato soup can take away any tears and leave you smiling. Potato soup is your best friend. I suggest taking your best friend out for potato soup sometime today for no particular reason and tell them they're awesome. I advise not to deliberately call your friend a potato, rather express how much they mean to you.

6. The Fry

They are the worst enemy of all diets; the fry. It's a guilty pleasure food that just makes us feel so dang good sometimes! Fries are similar to the potato chip, but they go the extra mile and jump into vats of super hot boiling oil just for you. Fries calm us down when we're anxious and they're our little buddies at any fast food restaurant. If you see someone who's a little anxious, be the fry you were meant to be and take away their worries.

7. The Waffle Fry

Similar to the regular fry, the waffle fry is more filling and hits home. Whether at Chick-fil-A or some other place, the waffle fry is a thicker use for the potato that satisfies your needs quickly. Think of it as the fry for adults.

8. The Baked Potato

Mmm, the baked potato. Bake once, you're a champ. Bake it twice, and you will have many friends. The baked potato is crafted in so many ways and can feed large amounts of people. If Jesus Christ himself broke just three of these bad boys, he could feed all of Europe. Baked potatoes can be challenging sometimes, but remember you've conquered bigger starches than these in your life before so you can take em! No matter what kind of baked potato you encounter in life, remember that the best things in life are shared so share those metaphorical baked potatoes with your hungry friends.

9. The Mashed Potato

The classic, extra filling, and original mashed potatoes. This is one of the harshest methods to eat a potato, but we do it anyways. Mashed potatoes go through skinning, getting chopped up, taking a bath in boiling hot water, and are beaten to mush for our eating pleasure. I'm not trying to sound like Sarah McLachlan, but use mashed potatoes as a time of reflection. You could one day find yourself as the mashed potato who's been through so much in life. But remember that it's all for good. you are being used to help people get what they want. For the potato, it's satisfying hunger. For you, it's getting others back on their feet even when you're on their same low level. Life can mash you up sometimes, but remember you have your own potato to mash.

10. The Smiley Fry

I hope you actually smiled when you saw this picture. Potatoes don't just make you smile in the stomach, but also in the face. These little guys brighten you day and also fill you up to perfection. As the smiley fry brings you joy and happiness, bring those same feelings to everyone you meet! be the smiley fry you've always dreamed of. Just don't feel bad when you eat their faces off.

11. The Potato

I know it just looks like an ordinary potato, but look back at all the uses this single potato could do. This potato is you. You may look typical, but you're actually one-of-a-kind! You may not know what life has for you, but neither does a potato! When a potato finds its calling, it accepts it with thankfulness and begins its journey. When you find your calling, purpose, or passion, follow it and never look back. Remember other people (potatoes) you can help and when life has its awesome moments, grab some bacon and cheese to celebrate! You are special. You are a purposeful potato. Go out there and conquer the world!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
