11 Poems To Live By

I think sometimes life gets too hard on us sometimes. The worst part is, is a lot of the time we cannot express our emotions correctly. Poems happen to come extremely in handy for helping with that. A poem can be something you relate to something you find salvation and virtue in, it can be something that gets you through life. I decided to make a list for you of quotes that have helped me and hopefully will help you realize what a strong beautiful creation you are. Here is a list of poems I have heard and found so far on my journey.

1. " You all have a little bit of 'I want to save the world' in you, that is why you are here in college. I want you to know that it is okay if you only save one person, and it is okay if that person is you" I think it is really important to remember that at the end of the day, if you are the only person you can help, that is perfectly acceptable. Everyone deserves to be saved why not you?

2. "You must be willing to give up the idea of who you think you should be in favor of who you are" - Warrior Goddess Training I think often we want to be someone else in life, or we try to make ourselves appear as something we are not. We need to get rid of this idea that we have to try to change ourselves for people to like us, the right people already do.

3. "Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart.... live in the question" -Rainer Maria Rilke Life is not going to always be clear, and there are going to be times you are so frustrated, because you cannot control a situation. Remember life is a journey and maybe something unresolved is leading you to a path of better things.

4." Do not settle. Do not finish crappy books. If you do not like the menu, leave the restaurant. If you are not on the right path get off it" -Chris Brogan You deserve way more in life then mediocre things, never settle.

5. "I am allowed to reach new awareness that counter or contradicts my old way of being" -Brittany Josephina You are allowed to change the way you think at any given time, life is for growth and new knowledge. Change your mind all you want!

6. "If flowers can teach themselves to bloom after winter passes, so can you" - Noor Shirazie Life is going to get really hard at some point, but remember you can always regrow, you can always start over.

7. "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have the right to be here" -Desiderata You are one of the most perfect arrangements of atoms, do not let people make you think you do not belong.

8. "If I am too strong for some people, that is their problem" -Glenda Jackson Never apologize for being apologetically you.

9. "Let there be spaces in your togetherness" -K. Gibran You need room in all your sanity for a little crazy. If you break down after a while of holding it together so what? Let your life have room to be different.

10."Whatever you believe about yourself on the inside, is what you will manifest on the outside" You are a living product of what you tell yourself. If you are confident on the inside then that is what you will be on the outside.

11. "I cannot abandon the girl I use to be, so I carry her." This is currently my favorite quote, because I had a short time in my life where I did not like myself very much, and people did not like me. I was not myself and I hurt my body in ways I will never forget, but I use to be like that I can never ever take it away, or erase the past. Ironically I do not want to erase that girl I once was, I learned from her, I grew from her. I can never leave her, so I carry her weight everyday to remind myself where I came from.

So do what you will with this, but I hope it inspired you. I hope you learn what a true temple of grace you are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
