Last weekend, the young and extremely talented singer-songwriter Christina Grimmie was tragically murdered while signing autographs at a show in Orlando, Florida. Taken from us at the age of 22 years old, Grimmie had her entire career and life ahead of her. Grimmie was best known for her Youtube channel “zeldaxlove64” and for placing third in the singing competition "The Voice." Not only did she have an incredibly beautiful voice, but she also had a character and personality unlike any other in the music industry today. She stayed humble throughout the course of her rise to fame and that's an incredibly admirable quality to have. Christina Grimmie was truly one of a kind and she will be missed by so, so many. In honor of the loss of such a beautiful soul, here are some of Grimmie’s most impressive performances and covers.
1. “Stay” by Rihanna (cover)
Just Grimmie, a piano and her incredible voice.
2. "Hello" by Adele (cover)
For such a tough song to sing, Grimmie makes it look easy. You won't find a cover as good as this one anywhere else.
3. "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus (The Voice performance)
It's no surprise that two of the judges turned around literally two seconds into her blind audition for "The Voice." This was the start to an incredibly long and successful journey for Grimmie in an extremely competitive singing competition. Plus, this performance absolutely destroys Cyrus's original...
4. "What Do You Mean" by Justin Bieber (cover)
Grimmie could turn an upbeat song like "What Do You Mean" into a beautiful and soft sound with such ease.
5. "Hold On, We're Going Home" by Drake (The Voice performance)
Please, watch this entire performance. The build up of Grimmie's voice in this song is absolutely insane. Her vocal control was IMPECCABLE. I get the chills every single time.
6. "In Christ Alone" by Keith Getty (cover)
Grimmie took pride in her faith and wasn't afraid to let that be known through her music and by the way she lived her life.
7. "It Will Rain" by Bruno Mars (cover)
The power of her voice was incredible. She could hit any note, high or low, on command.
8. "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley (The Voice performance)
Unbelievable vocal control in this performance.
9. "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato (cover)
This is an all around flawless cover. No surprise Grimmie was able to kill it with no problem.
10. "Give Me Love" by Ed Sheeran (cover)
And Grimmie claims to have been "goofing off" with her friend during this cover. I bet a whole lot of people wish they could sound that amazing while just fooling around.
11. "Doubt" by Twenty One Pilots (cover)
We won't forget about you, Christina.
Rest in peace, Christina Grimmie. March 12, 1994 - June 10, 2016.
