The hilarious and successful ABC sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat" is loosely based on chef Eddie Huang's childhood. It follows a family of immigrants trying to fit in in a suburban area in Orlando, Fla. Not only is this comedy series suitable for anyone of any age, it also gives the viewers life lessons that are worth taking note of.

Warning: These moments may make life seem depressing...that's it.

Read all the way to the end for the moving speech.

1. Take advantage of opportunities.

If you are at an all-you-can-eat buffet, try and sneak some food out. What's the worst that can happen?

2. Never settle for average.

Make sure you get what you deserve, and compensation should be mandatory.

3. You are allowed to be selfish.

If you cannot afford putting someone else's needs before yours, then don't.

4. Work, work, work!

...Yup.

5. Decide what you want to be.

Be whatever it is you want to be. As long as you don't hurt anyone.

6. What being an adult means.

More freedom equals more responsibility.

7. What life is all about.

Actually, you decide what kind of life you want.

8. Do not splurge. You will regret it later.

Everything in moderation.

9. When learning a new language, learn the bad words first.

According to my Elementary Chinese I teacher, the students who learn the bad words first do better when it comes to exams and communication in general.

10. Own what you are good at.

Be confident, not cocky.

11. Always negotiate so you can get the most out of the least.

Do you also have parents who think they can talk their way into getting the price lowered?

OK, maybe this was a little too real. Take a deep breath. Exhale and shake off some of the pressure you are feeling and remind yourself; life is what you make it. It is your life, you get to decide what you want to be, what you want to do and how to do it.

If your parents are anything like mine then you understand that there is only one thing they want their children to be; a doctor. They think that having a prestigious job guarantees a happy life. To them, being a doctor means making a lot of money which means everyone will live happily ever after.

If you have yet to discover this, one day you will, but for now I will just tell you: Being happy is the key to a healthy life. So, if you hate your job then you need to get a new job. If you find happiness in making other people happy then you will never truly be happy.

Here is a suitable quote to end this article with: "Life is not always perfect, but it's always what you make it. So make it count, make it memorable and never let anyone steal your happiness."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
