"Always remember that this whole thing was started by a mouse." -Walt Disney

As children, we grew up watching Disney. Movies that included talking mice, cute aliens, and princesses. In our childhood, we never thought beyond the surface of these movies, other than they were funny and cute. As we have grown up, we see that these movies actually had lessons hidden in them. Here are 11 lessons Disney movies taught us.

1. Lilo and Stitch

"Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten."

Lilo and Stitch taught us the importance of family. Family doesn't always have to be by blood, but rather are the people who love you and never leave your side (even if that may be an alien).

2. The Lion King

"Oh yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it."

The Lion King taught us that our past does not define us. No matter what has happened to us, we have the choice to let it have power over us or we can take control of our past and grow from it. Also we can't forget the wise words from Timon and Pumba, Hakuna Matata. No worries.

3. Winnie the Pooh

"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

Winnie the Pooh taught us that we are capable of more than we could ever imagine. Too many times we get down on ourselves, but if we only believe, the possibilities are endless.

4. Bambi

"If you can't say nothin' nice, don't say nothin' at all."

Bambi taught us a simple rule that will get you very far in life. This world is filled with hatred and people bringing others down, when really we need to be lifting others up. Kind words will get you farther in life than being mean ever will.

5. Beauty and the Beast

"Beauty is found within."

Beauty and the Beast taught us that beauty is not found on the outside, but rather it is what is on the inside that truly matters. Looks will fade, so it is important to look beyond a person's appearance.

6. Cinderella

"Even miracles take a little time."

Cinderella taught us the importance of patience and timing. Sometimes we hit a bump in the road, but it is important to keep patience and stay hopeful, because good things are coming.

7. Tangled

"Venture outside your comfort zone; the rewards are worth it."

Tangled taught us the importance of taking risks. Too many times we are too scared to do things, because they are outside of our comfort zone. Taking risks helps us to grow as a person. It is better to take chances than to live with regrets by not.

8. Dumbo

"The very things that hold you down are going to lift you up."

Dumbo taught us that we have the power to take the words thrown at us and rise above them. People may only bring you down if you allow them to do so.

9. Brave

"You control your destiny."

Brave taught us that we are in control of our lives and nobody else. We make our own choices to decide what happens to us.

10. Finding Nemo

"Just keep swimming."

Finding Nemo taught us that life can often get you down, but you can't let that stop you. You have to "just keep swimming" and things will get better.

11. Frozen

"Let it go."

Frozen taught us the importance of letting go. If we hold onto things too long, they will consume us. It is important to let things go for your own happiness.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
