11 ISFJ Quotes We Can All Learn From

ISFJs are a special group.

They are kind, loving and some of the most thoughtful people you'll ever have the honor of meeting. Known as The Defender, they are selfless in nature, and will bend over backwards for the people they love.

My own mother is an ISFJ, and I couldn't find a better description than the one I found on 16personalities.com.

When it comes to quotes, you'll find dozens of little pearls of wisdom. Many of these quotes are values and lessons I personally grew up with, and I love the genuineness behind every word. Here are 11 quotes from some of our favorite famous ISFJs.

1. "Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action."

~ Mother Teresa

Personally, if I could describe my mother in one word, it would be, "Love." She changed her life without even blinking, and to this day I'm still blown away at that kind of selflessness.

2. "There is no rule book, no right or wrong; you just have to make it up and do the very best you can to care for your family."

~ Duchess Kate Middleton

Just as Kate Middleton is a big advocate for children with mental health, most ISFJs are protective of a certain ideal or moral. They may be traditionalists, but they're willing to do what they need in order to protect the ones in their care.

3. "I have to be seen to be believed."

~ Queen Elizabeth II

Refined, traditional and funny as hell, I'm not just talking about the current British matriarch.

4. "I think relationships are work, but love is a gift."

~ Anne Hathaway

If my mother taught me anything, it was this value. That love is something we shouldn't take for granted, but when we do have it, we need to work to make it grow. Much like a garden.

5. "If you have three people in your life that you can trust, you can consider yourself the luckiest person in the whole world."

ISFJs value quality over quantity any day. They would rather have one best friend their entire life than 50 friends they can't really count on.

~ Selena Gomez

6. "There is some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.

~ Samwise Gamgee, Lord of the Rings

Much like sweet and loyal Samwise, ISFJs are ideal parents and friends because they will have your back no matter what. They make a promise, they will go to the ends of the earth to keep it if you are in their inner world.

7. "We can't giggle, it's a crime scene. Stop it."

~ Dr. John Watson, Sherlock

Once again, despite how traditional their values may be, they have a wicked sense of humor.

8. "Don't take yourself too seriously. Know when to laugh at yourself, and find a way to laugh at obstacles that inevitably present themselves."

~ Halle Berry

Another great lesson I learned growing up was this: Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

9. "Well, love motivates me in everything I do."

~ Vin Diesel

10. "If everything was perfect, you would never learn and never grow."

~ Beyoncé

Good things come out of bad things. People come together in times of chaos. ISFJs understand this, and live by it.

11."I try not to worry about things I can't do anything about."

~ Christopher Walken

Why waste time and energy worrying over something you can't change?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
