11 Things That Happen When You Become A Puppy Parent

Puppy Parenthood is a big step in anyone’s life. The day you pick up your little pup is one that you will never forget. Little did you know, that little bundle of joy can be such a handful. No matter how much your new baby makes you want to pull your hair out, you will still love your puppy.

1. You’ll get no sleep.

Do you like to sleep in? Well, forget about it because you’re only getting a maximum of five hours of sleep a night along with having to spend almost every single hour with your new puppy pal. Yes, right now he might seem like such a good idea at first with his cute antics but you won’t be looking so cute with zero hours of sleep.

2. Do you like those shoes?

Do you have a favorite pair of shoes that you love to wear just anywhere? Well, kiss those babies goodbye because your new “puppers” will chew on them and anything else they can get their puppy paws on.

3. Those teeth are going to hurt.

Like, a lot. Puppy teeth are razor sharp. I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut through a diamond. I was playing with my new “child” named Bear, and he broke skin. Ouch.

4. Your home is its bathroom.

Until your new puppy is potty trained, they won’t understand at first that it’s not OK to pee on the floor. Which it’s not.

5. Things in your home are also your new puppy’s chew toys.

Going back to those razor-sharp teeth, your fingers, arms, legs, etc. are your baby’s chew toys. It’s best to get him something he is allowed to sink is teeth into before it’s too late.

6. Your pupper is going to cry.

Sometimes, it’s best to ignore them. Sometimes, not so much. They might just not want to be alone. They did just get taken from their family, after all. The crying will pass too, just give it time and make sure your new addition isn’t alone for too long. My little Bear has a big mouth, as you can see.

7. If you have another dog at home, be prepared for it to be unhappy.

Goliath is a six-year-old Shih Tzu who is getting a little fed up with the new addition to his family. Little Bear decided it would be fun to bite and pull on Goliath’s tail like a game of tug of war. Patience is definitely a virtue. The day Bear was brought home, jealousy was written all over Goliath’s face. Just make sure you don’t forget to give attention and love to your other dogs. Let’s try not to play favorites (even though we know the puppy is, at least for now).

8. Puppy naps.

They are so cute when they are sleeping, and the puppy yawns are adorable too. Lucky for you, your new puppy will sleep a lot, which gives you a break from their wild antics, at least for 15 minutes.

9. You’ll have a new cuddle buddy.

My little baby Bear is so precious and the perfect size to cuddle (for now). It’s the best when he falls asleep in my arms. That little angel puts a smile right on my face.

10. Forget about free time and going out.

When you’ve got a new baby puppy at home, you have to be home watching it. Remember back to not leaving your puppy alone for too long? Yeah, date nights are going to be cut short, but don’t worry, your pupper will be worth it. Also, skip the coffee run in between classes, you’ve got to go home and let your puppy out to go to the bathroom.

11. Puppy love.

Even with all of the devilish things that your puppy will do, it will be worth it in the end because you will gain a best friend. You will feel the unconditional love come from that ball of fur that will make all of those sleepless nights and teeth marks worth it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
