Disney is absolutely one of the most successful film studios in history. But that doesn't mean they have never released a movie that was forgettable or unsuccessful. While I personally would not call these movies flops, some were box office failures, others received bad ratings from critics, and some are just too old for newer generations to connect to. And most of these movies are very good and deserve more attention and love but just didn't garner enough support over the years to be deemed a classic. I'm sure you've heard of most of the films on this list, but maybe you haven't seen them all or forgot about the ones you have.
1. The Sword in the Stone
This film was the last one to be released before Walt Disney’s death.
2. The Aristocats
This film was originally intended to be a live-action movie.
3. Robin Hood
Disney originally tried to make a movie called Reynard the Fox, but it was developed into Robin Hood instead.
4. The Rescuers
The TV series Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers was an adaption of this film.
5. The Fox and the Hound
Kurt Russell, known among Disney fans for his role as The Commander in Sky High, voiced Copper, the hound, in this film.
6. Oliver & Company
This film was written to take place in the 1800s in London but was relocated to New York City in the 1980s.
7. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
This is the last Disney film to use the words “hell” and “damn,” and it almost received a PG rating, instead of G, because of it.
8. Atlantis: The Lost Empire
The fake language in this movie, Atlantean, was created by the same man who made up the Klingon language in Star Trek.
9. Treasure Planet
The animators of this film used the 70/30 rule, keeping seventy percent of the film traditional in style and thirty percent adopting a more sci-fi image.
10. Brother Bear
Most of the characters in this film are named after places in Alaska, where the film is set.
11. Meet the Robinsons
In the beginning of this film, there is an orphanage scene that has a picture of Walt Disney hanging up on the wall.
