As I was sitting in class the first week of freshman year, the teacher asked the class a simple question that each of us had to answer: "What is your favorite form of potato?"
Being a first semester freshman and not wanting people to think I was a weirdo, I knew that I had to answer this question right. But as I thought about it more and more, I couldn't exactly think of a right answer. There were so many possibilities. People do not always realize the art of the beautiful potato until they think of all of the forms that can be made from it. God bless you, potato. We love you.
1. Baked potato.
Ah, the beloved baked potato. So simple yet so elegant. Drizzle some cheese and sour cream on top and you've got yourself a masterpiece.
2. Mashed potato.
A potato in mashed form. It sounds like nothing, but in reality it is everything.
3. French fries.
America's favorite food. How could you resist a good old french fry every once in a while?
4. Potato chips.
Crisp, salty goodness all packaged up in a little bag for you to enjoy.
5. Tater tots.
"Napoleon, give me some of your tots."
6. Gnocchi.
Thick, soft dumplings that are guaranteed to make your heart melt at first bite.
7. Home fries.
The absolute best breakfast food, hands down. Serve them with a little ketchup and all of your dreams will come true.
8. Potato salad.
The perfect side dish that will go with anything and everything.
9. Potato skins.
Yes, the skin can be better than the actual potato itself. Potato skins are a gift, treasure them.
10. Scalloped potatoes.
If your mouth doesn't water while looking at this picture, then you're doing life wrong.
11. Potato soup.
The perfect form of potato to enjoy on a cold day. Or any day, really.
