If you suffer from the gift of over-honesty like I do you definitely know it. We are often referred to as mean, or harsh. However, we are also the friend that people come to when they need to know the truth. We are generally well trusted by our parents, family members and friends and we are painfully aware of the fact that words can cut deeper than a knife. I choose to be proud of my honesty, although sometimes it comes back to bite me in the butt. My dad is always telling me to be more diplomatic and not always say what I think just because I am thinking it. My poor husband gets the brunt of my honesty whether he wants to hear it or not. The people around us who know us best have grown accustomed to the way we act and think. This is not to say that when we speak our minds it goes without consequences. Sometimes we hurt those around us without trying to, or offend someone with views different than our own. It can sometimes come in handy to hold our tongue but unfortunately, the majority of us do not yet have as much control over that as we would like. No matter which way you view it as, a gift or a curse, in most cases it defines our relationships. As over-honest people, we all have very specific characteristics in common.

1. Everyone you know is acutely aware of how you feel about them.

2. You can always be counted on for true advice.

3. People often think you don't like them.

4. You get in more fights.

5. You move faster in romantic relationships.

6. You understand the value of constructive criticism.

7. You're very opinionated about a lot of issues.

8. You are a hard worker.

9. You don't keep people in your life who aren't benefiting you.

10. Half the things you say come across as rude.

11. You say what everyone else is thinking.
