Though I was far too young to watch the show its first time around, I'm currently almost finished with the last season of "Sex and the City" on Amazon Prime *insert sad, sad face here*. As a young writer myself, I can't help but be inspired by the main character, Carrie Bradshaw. After all, she makes a living by writing for a column in a New York newspaper, has a fantastic group of gal pals, and has an endless assortment of shoes in her closet. Throughout the show's six seasons, I've noted some quotes that we can all agree with or relate to.
1. "Maybe you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be."
Maybe Carrie was right. In order to move forward, you have to sometimes let go of your past.
2. "Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate."
That mistake you thought may ruin your life? Nah, it's just a part of the journey.
3. "The universe may not always play fair, but at least it's got a hell of a sense of humor."
Sometimes it seems as though the universe is against us, but that's just how life goes.
4. "Friendships don't magically last 40 years. You have to invest in them. It's like your savings; you don't expect to wake up one day when you're old and find a big bucket of money waiting there."
Friendships don't magically last, and effort is key.
5. "You can never have too many pairs of shoes."
Well, Carrie, if you insist.
6. "Life gives you lots of chances to screw up, which means you have just as many chances to get it right."
Keep working on getting it right and don't let the hard times get you down.
7. "Sometimes the wrong choices lead us to the right places."
Carrie's love affair with Mr. Big drove us all crazy for way too long, but maybe it's what was meant to be.
8. "When you're determined to reach your goal, not even obstacles can scare you away."
If it matters enough to you, nothing can hold you back.
9. "I save my carbs for wine, it's called priorities."
Or Carrie's infamous drink, a cosmopolitan.
10. "Don't forget to fall in love with yourself first."
Before you open your heart to someone else, you need to love yourself.
11. "I like my money where I can see it--hanging in my closet."
With labels like Prada and Chanel, it's no wonder all of Carrie's money hangs in her closet.
As a viewer of "Sex and the City", I owe Carrie Bradshaw a huge thank you for teaching us lessons of love, true friendship, and that there's no such thing as too many shoes.
