OK, yes the caf can be a little difficult sometimes but that doesn't mean you can't have one heck of a meal! By using these quick tips you'll be able to kick your dining experience up a few notches.

1. Spice it up!

One simple way to give your meals some kick is to simply bring your own spices or seasonings! My friends and I recently discovered a seasoning called "Mikes," which is absolutely phenomenal! You can find it at Kroger in the local favorites section.

2. Vegetarian is good for everyone!

A common complaint about the caf is its lack of fresh options. Well lucky for you there is the vegetarian section! The vegetarian section is located right next to the fruit and will typically feature a entre that is not only freshly cooked but often times is pretty good!

3. Soups on!

Did you the caf serves soup at almost every meal? Well now you do and next time you're in the caf you'll remember that fresh soup is served at the end of the salad bar!

4. The secret of the grill!

Do you miss the days where the grill would specially serve patty melts? Well don't you fret because that is actually everyday now! Instead of getting a burger or a grilled cheese, just simply asked for a patty melt and all that unhealthy goodness can be yours in a matter of seconds.

5. The always ready rice!

Upset that your rice for your international dish is a tad under cooked? Well don't you fear because right over by the vegetarian section is a whole crock pot filled with fresh rice! Bear in mind that this is sticky rice but it is always cooked well and tastes pretty good.

6. Breakfast all day!

Some students don't know that the waffle iron is actually open all day! So if you're feeling a tad like Leslie Knope and fancy yourself a waffle, go for it! The waffle irons are located right by the desert section.

7. Pre-made salad!

So you may have noticed that there is always a pre-tossed salad by the pizza section. One thing you may have also noticed was the incredibly large amount of dressing they would put on it in the past. Well, thanks to a friend of mine the salad is now tossed with dressing on the side so the specialty salad can be enjoyed by everyone!

8. Le Omelette!

Did you know the caf will occasionally sport an omelette station during breakfast? Well, now you do! Next time you fancy a custom egg just roll up to the international station during breakfast and order yourself an omelette!

9. Hidden dessert!

Ever look at the desert options and there was nothing you liked or nothing you could eat? Well, there are hidden desserts that you can make yourself involving the ice cream. All you got to do is fill a cup with two scoops of ice cream and head over to the drinks. Want a coke float? Fill that sucker up! Want a milkshake? You can do that too!

10. Gluten free = fresh

So you probably like pizza right? Well if you're like me then you probably are a tad disappointed by how old some of the pizza in the caf is. Well lucky for us there's the gluten-free option. All you have to do is walk up to the pizza worker and ask for a gluten free pizza. Then just tell the worker what you want on the pizza and in just a few short minutes you'll have a personal four slice pizza fresh out of the oven! This option is great for pretty much everyone except gluten-free people because of cross-contamination, so if you are legit gluten free I don't recommend this hack.

11. Good people

One of the biggest secrets to a good trip to the caf is having good people to share it with. Lucky for us there is no shortage of fantastic people at MC! So grab some friends and share some memories together of a plate of okayish food from your caf!

Well, there you have it 11 hacks that will make the caf much more appealing to you! Hopefully your next visit you try one of these and maybe then you'll have great time in the.caf! Remember: The Caf, where memories come first and food is somewhere on the list!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
