The average life in a BSU blizzard.

Nothing screams hell yeah! like that 6 a.m. phone call, 12 text messages, and emails galore letting us know that classes have been cancelled for the day because of the bad weather. For some, it means a long weekend to be productive, and for others (especially me), it means more time to procrastinate on homework and projects that were due that day. So while you are looking for something to do on your day off from classes, here are 11 things you can catch a Bridgewater State student doing on a snow day.

1. Sledding down Shea Durgin Hill

I do not care if you are 8-years-old, or 20, sledding is fun no matter what. On a snow day here at BSU, you will see the Shea Durgin Hill full of people sledding all day. Walking up the hill may be the worst time in the world, but sledding down it is the best.

2. A snowball fight in Quad

Imagine 11,000 BSU students having a giant snowball fight? F**** awesome.

3. Building a snowman or a snow fort

Every now and then you catch a snowman being built on campus. When it comes to snow forts, you need one for that snowball fight on the quad right?

4. Games in your dorm

Cards Against Humanity or Heads Up are classic games that my friends and I play whether or not it is a snow day, so what a great way to pass time on your day off.

5. Netflix or Movies

If there is one thing that every college student has in common, it is a subscription to Netflix. When the school emails us, they really should just say, "Enjoy your day off from school watching Netflix."

6. Getting Bridgewater Bagel

Absolutely nothing will stop a BSU student from trekking through the blizzard to get a french toast bagel with chocolate chip cream cheese. NOTHING!!

7. Participate in the snow storm purge of moving car to parking garage

Sit back, grab some popcorn and watch as 4,000 students battle to claim a spot in the parking garage when the email goes out to move your car out of the parking lot. It is like a combination of "The Purge" and "The Hunger Games" combined and intensified by 10,000.

8. People watching from your window

Watching a BSU student try to make their way across campus to get to a dining hall during a snow storm may be the funniest thing to watch while you are laying on the couch under a blanket.

9. Doing homework

I will being doing homework or writing my article because I am the king of procrastination. However, most BSU students look at a snow day as an extra day to write that 10-page paper on the history of Napoleon that they have been putting off for two weeks.

10. Taking snow day pictures and tagging them with #BSUlife on Instagram

Many or all of Bridgewater State students dream and live for the goal of having BSU repost one of their photos on Instagram. No matter what the weather is, there is constantly a huge amount of #BSUlife pictures on Instagram being posted each day.

11. Catching up on sleep

All students no matter what school you go to bank on catching up on sleep. Even though that phone call that school is cancelled may wake you up, it is easy to go right back to sleep to make up for staying up until 3 a.m. the night before.

So, whether it is snowing or not, remember that every day is a great day to be a bear, but if you do see a bear paw print in the snow, call your local police.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
