Huffington Post

From its first day, 2016 has proved to be quite the interesting year. Celebrity feuds, break-ups, and negativity have dominated the Internet, but there have been so many moments of hope and happiness to balance out the bad. So in the year of chip card readers, Taylor vs. Kanye, and this presidential election, here are 11 moments that prove 2016 hasn’t been all that bad.

1. Retweeting your own tweets.

Twitter enabled all of us to pull the ultimate power move by letting us retweet ourselves. What a time to be alive.

2. Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar.

FINALLY.

3. Miley & Liam are back together.

This news awoke all of our hopeless romantic, inner-sixteen-year-olds.

4. The Gilmore GirlsRevival.

It’s been a dream to follow the filming and production on social media, and the four-part series will be the single greatest event of 2016.

5. The Olympics.

Because everyone loved watching Michael Phelps’ last lap.

6. Instagram stories.

We all judged them at first. But now, I look forward to watching all of the celebs’ stories.

7. Country music.

From award show performances, to a ton of hot summer music, to the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards taking place in November, 2016 has been a stellar year for this genre.

8. Pokemon Go

Personally, I was never into it. But it brought a lot of people a lot of joy, a lot of wasted time, and a lot of used data.

9. Joey Chestnut reclaimed his title.

After losing to Matt Stonie by two hot dogs last year, Joey Chestnut claimed the Mustard Belt once again in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on the Fourth of July.

10. Major League Baseball.

The Chicago Cubs are going to the World Series. What more is there to say?!

11. Adult coloring books.

Promoting procrastination and relaxation for adults everywhere, all throughout the year.

For many reasons, 2016 is a year to go down in the history books. Despite the chaos of the year, there sure has been a lot of good. With a little over two months left, we’ll see what else this year will bring.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
