Some of the most beautiful moments in life are the ones without all of the grandeur and circumstance. Simple things allow us to soak in the moment at full value.

1. Simple Smiles

The smile one friend gives another upon looking up and realizing it is them. Joy and immediate comfort follows the recognition of a familiar, warm face.

2. Parting Moments

Witnessing a beautiful, bittersweet moment of a parent and a grown child saying goodbye. There is an odd mix of pride, longing, abounding love, commission, and unspoken sorrow.

3. Quiet Mornings

Waking up organically to a quiet morning full of sleep and morning haze. The world seems so much simpler when you awaken before it does.

4. A Crisp Breeze

A gentle fall breeze rustles the leaves in the trees and moves the papers of a book about. Hair whips around with mind of its own. Wet feet dry off in an almost-too-cold gust.

5. Audible Comfort

Comforting chatter of a familiar voice. It doesn't matter what they say, but their audible presence envelops the world and everything in it.

6. End of a Long Day

Crawling into soft surroundings after a stressful day. Sleep immediately creeps in and carries away the worries.

7. Cold Day Remedy

Running inside with a cherry-red nose and numb fingers only to be greeted by warm mug of cocoa.

8. Puppy Cuddles

Dropping to the floor as a little bundle of energy launches themselves in your direction with unabashed excitement and glee.

9. Rush of Endorphins

Finishing a great workout and feeling simultaneously exhausted and invigorated.

10. Clean Room

After a hours of tidying and scrubbing, there is something so satisfying about the feel of a freshly cleaned room.

11. New Friends

The early stages may be awkward, but after a few weeks you discover the wonderful people that have just entered your life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
