If you have a sister, you know that, like in any relationship, it can go in many ways: you either love them to death, can’t stand them, tolerate them or you forgot you had one. I happen to be one of those lucky girls that has a sister for a best friend. In this, I know quite a few advantages that come with being very close to a sister. Here are a few common ones:
1. You agree and get along with most of the same topics
From talking about boys, hair and other girl problems, you can share and talk about all the little details in life without ever having to get off the phone (because most likely she's right in front of you).
2. You can talk about relationships of any kind
You might spend hours talking about friends you have or guys (like celebrity guys or ones you know) you are fascinated by or interested in. Since you both are females and related, you totally understand what each other is thinking or feeling.
3. You share fashion advice and/or clothes
When it comes to shopping for certain outfits and products, you automatically have that shopping buddy that will help you match the perfect pieces of clothing and find the best products. Since you both are close, you know one another’s style, and thus know what will look best on each other.
4. You’re the perfect gossip buddies
Gossiping is not the best thing to do, but I think at times we all do it without noticing (or maybe on purpose). With having a sister, you automatically have that one person you talk to about other people. Like which friends might like each other, or possibly why “so and so” might have broken-up with their boyfriend/girlfriend.
5. You always have someone there for you
When you come home from a long and hard day, there is always someone there you can talk too. When you don’t want to go alone to an event or party, your sister is the first person that comes to mind.
6. You can never be bored
When you have your best friend nearby 24/7, you never really run out of things to do. You either end up talking for the entire day, or think of something entertaining to do together.
7. You both can be "weird" and no one cares
For me, my sister and I have tendencies to do pretty “weird” things at times. We will randomly start to sing a song that is stuck in one of our heads, while the other joins in at a different part. This is done until the whole house echoes with off-key voices. We might do even weirder things like dancing in the middle of a grocery store when our jam comes on, or running in the middle of the street while it rains in December.
8. You're not afraid to be honest
The cool thing about being stuck with someone is that you can tell them what bothers you about one another, and not be afraid to really “ruin” the friendship. Most of the time, at the end of the day, you realize you still love each other.
9. You have your own “secret club”
You probably have code names for people you often talk about, signals for different things you often do and faces you make to represent different moods.
10. You automatically have that partner in crime
You both can come up with pretty cool and possibly mischievous plans. Like pulling a prank on another sibling or friend.
11. Every day is a party
One of the best parts in having a sister is that you already live together. Thus, you can both randomly go on a spontaneous adventure or act out the craziest idea. It could seriously be anything, like going to grab a bucket of ice cream and a ton more of other unhealthy food/desserts to have a random movie night.
With all said, a sisterhood friendship is one that lasts a lifetime. What I always say to my sister is, “I know that this friendship will never ever end; because not only are you my sister, you are my best friend!”
