So with the hype with the new Suicide Squad movie that came out Aug. 5th I felt that this girl needed to write something about it. For most people who know me I'm a nerd and obsessed with Harley Quinn herself but I went into this movie with an open mind. I was stunned by how amazing this movie was and even though some people won't agree, I think that it is a great representation of the squad. So here are ten ways real world people can relate to these comic book turned big screen bad guys. WARNING spoilers may be in the article!
1. You have your moments of defeat.
Much like Diablo you may revert to being an introvert. He blocked himself out from the world because of a mistake he made and didn't want to hurt anyone again. Some people can retreat back into themselves when they go through a bad experience or hard time. So you may not be locked up in jail but you might treat yourself like a prisoner in your own body.
2. You have a driving factor.
Just like Deadshot you will find something worth working for. Whether it be family, materials, or money there is something worth putting your time and effort into a job. For Deadshot it was money. He always made his clients pay before the job was finished so he didn't get shorted. People who have something to work for often tend to be more protective of the things they earn. Just like Deadshot we all have a driving factor.
3. You're unique.
Killer Croc has some mad skills and the fact that he is a human crocodile is pretty awesome in and of itself. So, ok, we all aren't mutant animal people but we all have that feature that makes us... well us. Own it, love it, embrace it. Because it sets you apart and makes you memorable.
4. You have feelings.
Like Deadshot you may try to be "the tough guy" or "the mach man" but you have emotions. His trigger was his daughter who he loved more than anything. He went to jail instead of letting her see a bad side of him. We all want to say we are fine and we can handle it but sometimes we break down and give in. THAT'S OKAY. I promise a masked man won't come take you to jail.... well ok I don't promise but I'll have my fingers crossed.
5. You love.

In the movie we saw that Harley was head-over-heels in love with the joker. She went through all the risks of getting killed and not making it out just to see her "Puddin" one last time. As humans we might not go through exact measures but we will eventually find someone we can't live without. We find our other halves and our soul mates. We then can truly say we would "live" for the other person because dying for them would just be too easy.
6. You have a strong squad.
Just like the squad itself you'll have a base group of friends whether they are roommates, class mates, or just people you meet off the street this group is your support. They are there watching your back through thick and thin and they won't ever see you go down without a fight. They help you from beginning to end with no questions asked. Although I wouldn't suggest threatening to blow their heads off if they don't agree with you.
7. You will have that awful boss.
The squad works for a woman who threatens to kill them if they get out of line. They are bad guys sent on a suicide mission and they are expected to obey all the rules after being locked up for so long. As people we will have to get a job and sometimes that job is for, who we think, is the worst person on the planet. We have to keep going, in fact we get paid to just keep working and that is a silver lining in and of itself.
8. You have a hobby.
They like being bad guys and doing bad guy things. People don't have to like doing something common or usual but we all have at least one thing we always want to do. From hiking to building pillow forts in your bedroom there is something. The best part is finding the people you enjoy spending time with and showing them what a great time it is and hopefully they enjoy it too. So whether your robbing banks or just binge watching a series on netflix find a buddy or two who can understand the love you have for that activity.
9. You'll be lied to.
Keeping it real here... the gang was lied to by their leader because he didn't think they would listen and help if they knew the truth. They felt betrayed and like they had no value. In life people are just as mean and rotten but you can either dwell on the fact that you've been hurt and left in the dark or you can do what needs to be done. Cutting someone out isn't always an option and it isn't always the best so before you make any rash decisions talk to someone or really think over your actions because they might end with a permanent result.
10. You'll always be yourself at the end of the day.
When it comes down to it they were still bad guys at the end. They still had life sentences and a cold cell room waiting for them back in prison. No rewards, no flashy medals, and certainly no freedom. At the end of the day we are who we started as in the morning. We erase all the events the day had in store for us and we relax back into our own skin. It is the best feeling in the world and it is who you really are. I wouldn't advise breaking into jail to save your girlfriend but hey, everyone has something they like.
I think that the movie was very life like to an extent. They made the characters feel like real people I would see on the street or that are in my life right now. Sure there were the movie aspects but there was so much more to it than that. When broken down these are characters that we can relate to. I hope that we can start relaxing into our own madness and embrace who we are from now on because who knows what kind of squad you'll come across.
