With Valentine's Day coming up, it's easy for everyone who is single, to fall into the "I Hate Love" abyss. I'm guilty of falling down that rabbit hole many Februarys too, until I realized that hating Valentine's Day is really like waving a sign that says "I HATE BEING SINGLE!" While that may be the case for others, it is certainly not for me.

This year I am taking Valentines Day as a day to indulge and love myself. And there is nothing wrong with that. Here are 10 tips that will make your Valentine's great, especially if you don't have a significant other!

1. Look your best today!

The easiest way to make Valentine's Day enjoyable, is to make sure that you look your best and feel confident. Go out there wearing your favorite outfit and see how it doesn't matter that you aren't in a relationship!

2. Give into the free Valentine's goodies

Don't be afraid to have the Valentine's Day fun without a partner! If you see that the coffee shop is giving out free pink cupcakes with your coffee, then take one. You don't have to not give in because you "hate" the holiday!

3. Do something new

If you want to get away from all the lovey-dovey stuff, that's okay too! Take the day to do something new for yourself. Sign up for a dance class, go get your hair done in a new style, or go on an adventure! The sky is the limit!

4. Do something for someone else

If you aren't feeling your best on this day, chances are that there is someone just like you that could really use a little pick me up! It can be something as little as complimenting someone, but it will make you feel great in the end.

5. Don't be afraid to say "happy Valentine's Day"

Yes, I know. You can say it if you are single. But really, it is a holiday to celebrate love and even if you are single, it is perfectly alright to celebrate it.

6. Go to a singles party!

Who knows? Maybe you won't be single after. Either way it's a great way to make you feel like you are not alone.

7. Say no to being a third wheel

It can be great (I guess?) that your friends want to include you on Valentine's Day, but also very weird. Try your best to not hang out with your friends that are in relationships. You love them, and they love you, but being a third wheel is a big NO NO on Valentine's Day. Don't do it!

8. Pamper yourself!

Put on a face mask, some Netflix, take a bubble bath, whatever you like to do when pampering yourself! This is your time, just relax and have a good time.

9. Surround yourself with friends

If all of your friends are alone on Valentine's Day, then just hang out. Have a movie night where you all eat the obnoxiously priced mystery chocolates and have a blast.

And Finally...

10. Love yourself

Take this day to reflect on life and truly learn to love yourself. This is so important. You need to love yourself before you can love others, so fill your day up with whatever you must, so that you can feel loved by yourself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
