I love the Fall--the crisp autumn leaves changing into brilliant reds, vibrant yellows, and oranges, lighting up the skyline with their radiant colors.
Funny story: I attend school in southern California, a place that doesn't have any of that. In fact, we've been experiencing high 90 degree heat waves. Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful that I don't have to bundle up in multiple layers to stay warm. However, I do sometimes wish I could cozy up by the fire with a cup of cider, a good book, and some sort of pumpkin-flavored pastry.
Let's be real--that's not going to happen any time soon, so here are 10 ways to experience the fall when you live in a place that clearly doesn't get any fall:
1. Eat pumpkin-flavored everything.
Even if you don't like pumpkin, it's hard to refute the fact that pumpkin reminds people of fall.
2. Drink hot beverages.
Sure, I might be sweating as I drink my hot coffee on the way to class. On the way to getting the fall experience, I THINK YES.
3. Light a candle in your room.
You didn't hear this from me, but rumor has it that fall-scented candles can create the illusion of fall in your dorm room.
4. Appreciate the items that clearly don't need to be pumpkin-flavored.
5. Like, honestly, is this really necessary?
6. Wear sweaters when it hits 75 degrees, because sweater weather is essentially nonexistent.
Don't act like you haven't done it.
7. Cozy up to the sweet crackling sounds of the fireplace... coming from your computer screen.
8. Carve a pumpkin
But only leave it out for a day, otherwise, you'll be dealing with cleaning up the quickly- otten insides.
9. Go to the beach (where it's slightly colder in October/November).
This only adds to your justification for wearing a sweater.
10. Document the one day it rains on all branches of social media.
I often find out that it's raining via Snapchat before I even go outside.
