With winter break winding down towards a bittersweet end, many college students will soon enter their second semester. However, some students are dreading this due to the fact that their first semester was so stressful. There are many ways to make your second semester less stressful, however, there are ten integral tips you need to follow in order to make your second semester your best one yet.
1. Don't use social media as much.
Cutting off social media is a healthy way to stay on task and increase productivity. You don't have to cut it off completely, but by cutting off some social media it will immediately have an effect.
2. Start eating healthier and cut off junk food.
You'll feel better and have more energy. Junk food might taste good, but in the long run it will just make you more tired.
3. Don't pull any all-nighters (unless you absolutely have to).
Unless you have a major group project, all-nighters do more harm than good.
4. Get more involved on campus.
Getting more involved on campus is a great way to improve your social life and find things you care about outside the classroom.
5. Have an actual sleep schedule.
No more going to sleep at 3 A.M. and waking up at noon. Getting back to a normal sleep schedule will help you manage your time more effectively.
6. Start studying for an exam two weeks beforehand, not the night before.
I know, it sounds crazy. But if you study thirty minutes a day for two weeks (and even increasing the studying when the test comes closer), you'll be more confident than ever that you'll ace it.
7. Find time to relax.
Self-care is always key, and if you take away relaxation you'll be super stressed. Find some time in the day to watch Netflix or take a nap.
8. Get involved outside of campus.
You don't necessarily have to get involved on campus. There are usually many organizations outside of school that need part-time volunteers.
9. Start working out.
Even if you don't necessarily like working out, it is an important part of our lifestyle to keep track of. Once you start, you won't regret it.
10. And most importantly, have fun!
College may be mainly about academics, but it's also about having fun as well. Don't worry about going out on weekends; as long as you prioritize your time you'll be fine!
