History can be a weird thing. It changes based on who you ask. It can seem like certain parts of history are super far apart, even though they happened at the same time in history. Here are 10 facts about history, that are slightly unbelievable, but 100% true.

1. The Great Fire of London in 1666 only killed 8 people.

Not exactly my idea of a "great fire," however, it did destroy over 13,000 houses.

2. The shortest war in history was indeed very short.

It was the Anglo-Zanzibar War. It lasted between 35 and 45 minutes in 1896.

3. Anne Frank and Martin Luther King Jr. lived at the same time.

MLK Jr. was born on January 15th,1929 and died on April 4th, 1968. Anne Frank was born on June 12th, 1929 and died some time in 1945. This fact is strange, because most people associate them as being from completely different parts of history.

4. Heroin used to be given to kids to alleviate coughing in the late 1800s.

If you had ever met your great-grandparents, were they nuts? This may be why. Correlation is not causation, but it's possible.

5. Cocaine used to be in Coca-Cola.

Its where the "coca" in the name comes from. Cocaine is derived from the coca plant.

6. No witches were actually burned at the stake in Salem.

It's a myth, they were all hanged.

7. George Washington's hair was real.

Contrary to popular belief, it was not a wig.

8. The catacombs in Paris are 20 meters deep.

That is 65.6 feet underground. That is preeeeeetty deep.

9. Joseph Stalin basically invented Photoshop.

He used to edit people who had died or been removed from office out of his photos.

10. Albert Einstein was almost the president of Israel.

Upon the country's founding in 1952, the offered the position to Einstein. He declined.

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
