Church camp; how I will always love you and need for you to be longer. Let's all be honest –aside from growing in faith, singing all of the awesome songs that are so catchy they never leave your brain, and (hopefully) the amazing food, you will never forget the people you met and how much certain people stood out to you.
1. The Really Relate-able Leader
This is the leader that is way younger than the rest. Most likely in college or just graduated, and just seems to understand just what you're going through with a lot of accuracy. They know how to make lessons more fun than you ever thought they could be, and they stay up late with all of the older campers to have even more fun. This is the leader you can cuss in front of and be really honest with, because less than five years ago, they had the same problems.
2. The Quiet One
Either their parents made them go, or they really want to break out of their shell. The whole time is spent trying to get them to really talk, because you're honestly interested in what's churning inside their heads. Hopefully by the end of the week they crack!
3. The Popular One
This person literally knows everyone, and everyone knows them. They're always shouting, "hi," get food with different people for every meal, and always throwing out high fives and hugs.
4. The One Who Knows Everything
This person has probably read the entire Bible at least 12 times. They're quick to answer any question related to passages, like "what book is this passage from" or "how many books are in the Bible." If you ever have a question about verses, books, or meanings, you go to them.
5. The Future Pastor
Not to be confused with the one who knows everything, this person is pure pastor material. They give the most insightful answers, are quick to hug or console someone in the group, and sometimes will prod others to answer the leader's questions. If you ever have to do a mock service, you know they will be the one to do the sermon and lead all of the prayers (thank God).
6. The Church Camp Boyfriend/Girlfriend
Don't lie. We've all had one (or two). They're either that hot girl/guy a couple of years older than you that you admire from afar, or the person you kept holding hands with after prayer was over. Risque, I know.
7. The Overachiever
Never shies away from a question or opportunity. You can count of them to read, act something out, sing, or dance when no one else in the group wants to. They're all out for impressing everyone else and not hesitating to be themselves.
8. That Youth Group
You know the one. They're all best friends, including their youth leader. They're always together, laughing, smiling, being really loud and obnoxious. And strangely, you're jealous of them, wishing you had a youth group like that.
9. The PK
PK= pastor's kid. There are many variations of this, but they're either future pastors, or rebellious. I've met many PKs, and there are some, of course, outside of those two groups, but no matter what they're always great people with awesome parents.
10. The Best Friend
Your ultimate favorite person you see all week. You may not see them anywhere besides church camp, but they have such a huge impact on your life. You pray you're in the same group as them, you eat with them every meal, sit with them every worship, and hopefully end up as roommates. They understand you better than most, because they see you in a place of no judgement and proclamations of faith.
