Tips for all of you incoming freshman this year, I will give you a few tips for this upcoming school year. This school year will be the most important year of your college career.

  • Go to your classes even if you are too tired.
  • Keep your grades up, it is hard to raise your gpa after your freshman year.
  • Take nap! They will literally save your life, especially if you have a lot of homework to do.
  • Talk to your professors and get to know them, they will be the ones who determine your grade, and they are the ones who can help you the most.
  • Make friends! Even if you don’t know them, try talking to them and maybe you will make a new friendship.
  • Get out of your comfort zone and try new things.
  • Call your parents! They are worried about you and do love you, trust me.
  • Leave your door open when you are in your dorm! This is a great way to meet new people and possibly join conversations.
  • Ask for help when you feel overwhelmed with your assignments, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
  • Study, study, study, and this will save you in the end when you have midterms and finals. But, still have fun!!

I hope you enjoy your freshman year in college, and I hope you make a lot of new friends. You will have a lot of up and downs during the school year which will make you question everything and don’t be afraid of change. And last but not least, call your parents when you are having troubles because they literally solve all of your life problems. Have fun and I wish you all the best!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
