When I was in my first production, everything was new to me, and I had never acted before. My very first cold read was just a very different experience. But in my first show, I learned so much about what you need to do to be fairly successful in theatre.
1. Befriend the Script
The script will most likely be your first friend in theatre, the script tells you everything you need to know. The script includes your actions, emotions, and stage directions. The script is also never wrong so thats always good to have that reassurance.
2. Lines! Lines! Lines!

3. Bring the Intensity

4. Just not that much intensity
Just because you are involved in drama it doesn't mean you have to be drama queen. Working towards the completion of any show is already stressful enough, don't pile onto the stress by adding your unnecessary sass.
5. Improv

6. Stop moving
You can't just stand still on stage however, if you move to much you may give someone in the first row whiplash. If its a nervous tick just super glue your feet to the stage. (Don't actually)
7. Practice! Practice! Practice!
Plays and musicals aren't at all like movies, you can't stop performing and do the scene over again. A play is done in front of a live audience, yes real humans. So work hard to make it perfect.
8. Open up the schedule

9. Pay attention
Nothing is worse than a missed entrance. There is always that one person who just misses all of them. Don't be that person, make sure you know what is happening at all times. Honestly no single person on earth enjoys that person they make everybody look bad.
10. Costumes and Make-up
