Recently, I've been binge-watching Empire. I love this show so much. Empire is a show about a lot of crazy things but one of the greatest characters on the show is Cookie Lyon. Cookie is a true icon. She speaks her mind, protects her family, and takes charge of every situation. Here are ten times that Cookie Lyon's quotes represented my life perfectly.


1. When your professor says the final is cumulative

Seriously, who does this? As if school weren't hard enough, now I have to memorize things from over 3 months ago. I promise you I cannot recall what I had for breakfast this morning.

2. When someone asks you why you're being so mean today

Food is life. Life is food. 90% of the time when I'm grumpy, it's probably because I'm starving.

3. When you write that 10 page paper due at midnight in 30 minutes flat

It's a skill to be this ill.


4. When you post a selfie on Insta and get under 100 likes

It hurts, okurrrr!

5. When you wear makeup and a nice outfit after weeks of hibernation and someone says you look good

It barely happens...so you gotta embrace it.

6. When you show up to the free pizza line on campus

Seriously, I was promised pepperoni pizza. What do you mean you're all out?

This is the cruelest form of toying with my emotions.

Honestly, I didn't choose the bad-driving-life. It chose me!

I promise you I'm learning stuff Mom and Dad. I just can't recall any of it right now, or ever.

This is the best (if not slightly rare) feeling ever!
