10 Thoughts I Had While Playing Pokémon Go

The newest craze is out there and we call it "Pokémon Go". While it’s only been out for a little over a week, it is slowly taking over our lives. Everywhere I go I find myself checking to see what’s nearby. Usually I want to see where all the Pokestops and gyms are. I also find myself checking what Pokémon are around that I haven’t seen before and hoping I get close enough to catch them! During all this though I’ve had many thoughts that I believe everyone playing can relate to.

1. “Why can I only find a (insert name of most popular Pokémon where you currently are)?” – Everyone’s town has different Pokémon, mine specifically has a lot of weedles and pidegys among a few others. It has already become frustrating to find the same type of Pokémon constantly. Especially when I’m not interested in weedles or evolving them because they aren’t that exciting in the first place.

2.“I need more Pokeballs.” – I am guilty of throwing excessive Pokeballs at some Pokémon simply because I didn’t realize the trick to catching them the first few days of playing. This calls for trips to pokestops regularly because I’m not using my own money when I can get them for free!

3. “Whoa, what is that!” – Every time a Pokémon that I haven’t seen before pops up on my nearby tab I wonder what it is and where it is. Half of the time these Pokémon that I’ve never seen before are too far away and I don’t catch them because I cannot find them. Sometimes I get lucky though!

4. “Who are you people” – Going into my town to get Pokestops makes me wonder where these random people I’ve never seen before playing Pokémon are coming from. It's amazing how one game can get so many people to go outside.

5. “Why do I have to wait so long for these Pokestops to reset?” – While it would be unfair for Pokestops to give away more items instantly, sometimes I wish they did when I’m in need. Luckily within a couple minutes they are reset and I can use them again.

6. “Why are water Pokémon not near water?” – I’ve been wondering this for a few days now every time I notice a water Pokémon come up on my radar when I’m not near water at all. I was in a car dealership parking lot and a Squirtle was on my radar so that’s one of the few confusing aspects of the game. I've also learned this sometimes happens with the night time Pokémon as well.

7. “OH MY GOD ITS SO CUTE” – If you have any favorite Pokémon you can feel this on some personal level. Whether it be a Pikachu or an Eevee, you know what I’m talking about.

8. “Where has this been all my life?” – For many people, including myself, Pokémon Go is the invention of a lifetime to those who remember playing Pokémon as a kid or being obsessed with a particular Pokémon. I actually walk around and catch Pokémon in real life. I have yet to completely wrap my head around this idea.

9. “This literally takes forever” – Hatching an egg, anyone? The shortest distance is 2km for an egg but you only get steps that count when you have Pokémon Go open which makes it more difficult but at least I know I'm getting steps whenever I play.

10. “Ugggggggggggh!” – I’ve experienced this when trying to catch a Pokémon that constantly comes back out of the Pokeball, a Pokémon who dodges everything or when you catch a Pokémon and the game freezes. Hopefully I'll have less of these moments in the future.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
