10 Things You Take Away From Freshman Year

As our freshman year has now come to a close and I look back on how I started this year so many things have changed. There has definitely been a lot that I have learned from just one year at college, but there are 10 things that I have learned that will stick with me forever!

1. You are not a morning person.

No matter what you tell yourself 8am's are not the best option. If you don't believe me go ahead and take one and see for yourself.

2. Go to the school's sporting events!

They're the most fun that you will have! Whether it's football, basketball, soccer or baseball it is for sure to be an amazing time!

3. Explore around your campus.

My campus is located right in the city so it's safe to say that I was in the city a lot! But even if your campus isn't in a city there is still so much you can do if you just go on a little adventure.

4. Don't be afraid to try new things.

When I came to college I was so ready to try things that I knew I couldn't do in High School. At first it's a little overwhelming, but once you narrow down what you want to do it is a lot of fun!

5. Dining hall food isn't that terrible.

Even though some people say to stay away completely from your universities dining hall food, sometimes it's not that bad. Once you find a spot on your campus that has great food you'll always wanna eat there.

6. College is a lot harder than high school.

If you thought High School was hard just wait till you get to College. Yeah sure people tell you that College will be harder but I don't really think you understand it until you get here.

7. You will make new friends.

Your friends that you have back home will still be there when you get back, but the friends that you make here at college will last a lifetime!

8. You will learn how big your wardrobe really is.

Listen to your mom and don't bring all of those clothes because you really don't need them all! I brought my whole closet and only wore about half of what I brought!

9. You learn how long you can go without doing your laundry.

Whether you're not doing your laundry because you are lazy, out of money, or just simply don't know how, you're not alone. I could go weeks without doing laundry until I absolutely needed to.

10. Just have fun!

College is some of the best years of your life! And let me tell you, your freshman year absolutely flies by! So make all of those new friends and try new things because this could actually be the last time you get to do any of it!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
