It seems inescapable. Every street corner, local landmark, and public park seems overrun. I've never known my friends to like walking this much -- in fact, they hate it. Pokémon Go has even found its way into public conversation on the news because people are currently using it more than Facebook and Snapchat. I went to the Santa Monica Pier and while watching the concert, you can see the screens ahead of you filming and taking photos of the performers on stage. Imagine my surprise when I looked towards the front and saw people with raised phones trying to connect to Pokémon Go. Although I am all for trying new trends; I also believe in a healthy amount of reality. So here are 10 things you missed this week because of Pokémon Go.

1. The Sidewalk Curb

Okay, so the first curb trip was a surprise, but the third time you tripped it felt more like the ground was out to get you. Don't give up though on these Pokémon; just look up more frequently or go in a herd.

2. The Nation Turkey Almost Looses Its Head

Turkey is currently facing tumultuous times due to an attempted military coup. Military coups have occurred before in the history of Turkey, but for this particular attempt martial law has been declared. President Erdogan's hold on the country remains in precarious balance (New York Times).

3. A New British Prime Minister

As of July 13th 2016, Theresa May is the new British Prime Minister. Her current struggle stems from Brexit, which occurred under former Prime Minister David Cameron. She has currently chosen a few cabinet members of her own, but it is much too soon to decide anything about her Prime Minister leadership style (CNN).

4. Tesla Crash Raises Questions

This week has certainly been a busy time for Tesla. A customer recently claimed that their car crashed while on autopilot, but the company has strictly denounced such claims. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla even took to Twitter to dispel the accusation (CNN).

5. Isis Attack Fails: Muslim Man Saves Lives

Above is the picture of Najih Shaker Al-Baldawi, a hero in the truest form. He sacrificed his life to save others from an Isis suicide bomber. Al-Baldawi hugged the bomber and saved countless lives by exposing himself to the blast. His quick thinking and act of bravery helped to shield others and lessen the intended outcome of the bomber. A hero against one of the most dangerous groups in our current history, it took only one man to ruin their attack. This is a story that should definitely have more attention, especially in mainstream media. A true man of his religion who made a statement against Isis. Thank you Najih Shaker Al-Baldaw and may your bravery be remembered (India Times).

6. One Winning Ticket For Mega Millions Lottery

There was only one winning ticket (so far), sold in Indiana for over $540 million dollars. The ticket was for the Mega Millions jackpot. Congratulations whoever you are and I hope that you kept your ticket (NBC)!

7. Terrorist Attack In France

A truck was used to kill over a dozen people in Nice, France. The rental truck killed and injured many unsuspecting victims, with a main connecting factor that they were all present in Nice for a day of celebration. France has already suffered severe losses from terrorist attacks this year (New York Times).

8. Rio 2016 Reveals 13 Posters

As we draw closer to the 2016 summer Olympic Games, more artwork and preparations are becoming unveiled to the public. Unlike the usual, there are multiple posters that showcase a variety of Brazilian (and one Columbian) artists (Paste).

9. Warren Buffet Donates Billions To Charities

Warren Buffet, the American investor as well as philanthropist, has just donated more than a billion dollars to charity. In fact he has donated over two billion dollars worth of stock. He is part of an effort where billionaires pledge to give away most of their money/wealth before they die or within their will (CNN).

10. The Front Door

Either due to reading this article, checking an email, or Pokémon Go, you probably just walked into a glass door. If anything you tried to pull when it said push. Have a good time, but not at the expense of common knowledge.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
