Everyone looks forward to going to college, and for good reason, but there will be a few things they instantly realize they miss from home. Whether you are going back from a weekend at home, or for your first weekend at school, you’re going to miss home. Here are a few things I always miss within a week of going off to school!
1. Your Bed
No matter how many mattress pads you put on that old, used, Twin XL, nothing is going to compare to your bed at home.
2. Home Cooking
Dining hall food isn’t as bad as people say it is, it’s worse. Even if you were to have a peanut butter and jelly, it will taste better at home when you don’t have to use “sun butter”.
3. Showering Without Shoes
You don’t realize how much it stinks to shower with shoes until you go back home again and you can freely stand in your shower without the worry of getting athlete’s foot.
4. Private Bathroom
Even if you share a bathroom with a sibling, or your entire family, nothing is as bad as a communal bathroom with 15+ girls. Some of which must’ve been raised in a barn, who doesn’t flush?
5. Your Mom Doing Your Laundry
There is nothing worse than using the communal washers and dryers. Once someone steals your jeans and your bras loose shape, you’ll really miss mom doing your laundry.
6. Soft Toilet Paper
Does the school buy sandpaper and put it on a roll?
7. Your Home Friends
Especially in the beginning of the year or after breaks, you find yourself thinking about your home friends and wishing they could experience everything at college with you.
8. Room Privacy
Even if you are best friends with your roommate, sometimes you just want a little privacy after getting out of the shower or failing a psychology test.
9. Your Pet
Sometimes they may have gotten on your nerves, but you deep down miss that little fur ball.
10. Your Family
You may have been psyched to leave your family and go to college, but you will realize pretty quick, they will be one of the first things you miss.
To all you seniors who can’t wait to get off to college, don’t take being at home for granted, because you will miss it all one day.
