We all know that Louisiana Tech is the best university in the country. But it's the little quirks and special nuances that make our years on this campus so unforgettable.

How 'bout them dawgs??

1. The Spirit of '88 is not just a silly superstition.

Rubbing that shiny bulldog head has helped me pass many an exam; it's physically impossible for me to walk past the statue and not rub it for good luck.

2. It's not weird at all that our Lady Techsters wear a different shade of blue than our Bulldogs...

It's called tradition. And it makes us unique. And Colombia blue is just plain prettier for girls anyway!

3. Your hand is permanently formed into a dawg.

Teaching your parents and grandparents how to make the dawg can be challenging, though...

4. Tulips hold a special place in your heart.

There aren't many things better than the Quad in the spring.

5. Finding your brick for the first time is a monumental moment.

Proudest moment as an alumna.

6. DON'T STEP ON THE SEAL!

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS RED AND BLUE, WALK AROUND IT! DO NOT RISK YOUR GRADUATION!!

7. The Band of Pride is the absolute best.

Director Robkin's white hat is iconic on the field, and there is no one with more school spirit than these guys.

8. The Lady of The Mist:

*To the Miss Congeniality tune* She's beauty and she's grace; she's constantly covered in bubbles or a flag or something ridiculous...

9. Dr. Guice is probably the best university president in the country.

I mean really. How adorable is he? Not to mention he can walk through campus and greet dozens of random students by first name.

10. You hold your finger high and proud to show all that Louisiana Tech is number one in your heart.

"I will ever loyal be to thee, my alma mater."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
