10 Things You Must Do With Your Roommate

Has anyone ever seen the movie "The Roommate," staring Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester? The one where the crazy girl puts her roommate's cat in the dryer to kill it? Yeah, well that is every freshmen's worst fear when starting the roommate search for college. I've been there and done that, and I'm here to say that it isn't as bad as you might think. Turns out, my roommates are my best friends and I wouldn't want it any other way. Here are 10 things I love about my roommates:

1. "When will you be home?"

This is a question that we ask each other every day, even though we know each other's schedules. The fact that we still ask each other this question makes us love each other that much more. We always need us time, and we make sure the others know it.

2. "Can we grab lunch/dinner together today?"

This is another question that we ask each other every day that is very loving. Knowing that we can always count on each other at the end of the day is so important. No matter what college life throws at us, we're always ready to sit down with some food and talk about it.

3. Pictures, pictures and pictures.

There is nothing better than having roommates who loves to take pictures as much as you do. Pictures at any time of the day, but mostly when you all are looking amazing and about to go out. There is nothing better than roommate pictures.

4. Boy talk.

Having talks about all the stupid boys in your life, or the lack there of, is a roommate essential. You guys have to talk about what happened, what didn't happen and when he is coming back over. Talking about this over dinner is another perfect touch.

5. Late night snacking.

You have to find roommates who knows that they shouldn't, but will stay up late with you and talk over a bag of Cheetos or order some Campus Cookies when they know you could use some sugar. The excessive eating can sometimes be a problem, so follow up with the next bullet.

6. Gym time.

Too much food and beer will start to do damage to most people, so always being willing to get out and go to the gym with each other is a must. Motivating each other is key to a skinny year in college. Say goodbye to the freshman 15!

7. Sharing clothes.

You may not have it all together, but together you have it all. Always let your roommates borrow that cute romper or those cute shoes, because one day you will need the favor returned. Make sure your roommates ALWAYS looks super cute before you go out.

8. Always compliment each other.

But only if it's real. NEVER tell your roommate she looks great if she has pepper all in her teeth. Look out for each other and boost each other's self-esteem. Looking good and feeling good together is an important part of your roommate experience.

9. Having Netflix and chill nights.

Sometimes, you just cannot go out. Whether your day has been too stressful, you have too much homework or you just don't feel like being around people, make sure someone is always there to comfort your roommate. Besides, you should never go out alone either. You must always travel in a minimum of two.

10. Be respectful.

Whether you are being respectful of their things, or your own cleanliness, always make sure you give them enough respect. Take the trash out if it needs to go out, or clean up your side of the room if it's getting a little messy. Respecting each other's space and things is the most important part!

These 10 things are so important if you want to have a successful year with your roommate. Happy living!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
